I am a longtime Unlimited user, paying € 5 per month. I received a € 10 gift card (Premium) from a friend so I cancelled my Unlimited subscription.
I activated the gift card but now a few days later Spotify charged me € 10 for Premium through my Paypal.
What's up with that?
I am 100% sure that my subscription was cancelled as it showed up on my profile + emails.

Renewal date is 2014-07-29.
I cancelled my subscription on 2014.06.23 and activated the card on the same day.
Definitely weird! Did you get an email receipt when you redeemed the card?

No, only a confirmation when I cancelled my subscription. But no confirmation for the activation of the card.
It did show up on my profile and when the free month will be over, and even in the top bar in Spotify ("Spotify Premium")
I have a feeling this is going to require a little more digging on Spotify's behalf. If you could get in touch with the customer services team directly using the online contact form they can dig a little deeper for you.
If you get an automated email reply back directing you to the community or help pages, you need to reply directly to that email (even if its from no-reply) and one of the customer services agents will get back to you as soon as possible.
