I just logged in and found that everything was wiped off my Spotify, just like everyone else here. The weird part is that I left Spotify open, went somewhere, came back to wake up my computer, but I came back to the Spotify log in screen instead of the Spotify that I had left. I logged in with my email address and everything was gone and it asked me if I wanted to connect with Facebook. I said yes, but everything stayed the same. I signed up before September 2011 with a free subscription and I don't really know what to do. Its really upsetting because Spotify has been AMAZING up until this point...

I tried the logging out and in and making sure it was synced with Facebook but still the same problem of no playlists and not being able to access my premium account. Anything else I can try to fix this problem?

log out.
and then open spotify again.
fill in your spotify username (NOT the facebook login)
and then click forgot password.
and then give them your e-mail.
follow intructions that are being sent to you by e-mail. and then login using your spotify account username and password. that worked for me.
Shame though that in my panic I payed another premium account for the strange wiped out account that appeared. . .;(

I am having this same problem and all the steps suggested in this post have not helped.
I use my spotify for my restaurant so this is quite incovienient.
I think i might have actually paid for this duplicate account right now too

If you log out of the Spotify application File > Log out..), and then log back in again, using your original Spotify username and password, you will be back in your old account.

Same issues here ...
My starred is gone after an upgrade - only 'free' instead of my premium account. What happened?

Iv fixed mine but i think i may have created a second spotify acc in the process...can i check that somewhere??
