trying to change country: "another account is already associated with this address"

I originally created a spotify account in the Netherlands in 2011, and I never de-activated the account when I moved back to Canada. Now that Spotify is available in Canada, I've tried using my same email /account to use Spotify again.

When I  go to update the postal code and country in account settings, and try clicking save, it highlights my email and an error message says "Another account is already registered with this email address." 

The app wont let me log in because it says my country does not match the one in my profile. I've now tried to correct the country settings several times but it will not save the changes.

Do I need to deactivate the account and start again? I've tried contacting customer support but only got an automated message telling me to use this community forum. Please help.

If you have two accounts then I would suggest you to get in touch with Spotify, also you've to reply to the automated confirmation e-mail.

You may get in touch with Spotify via their Twitter page (@SpotifyCares), or by following this link to send an e-mail.
If you send an e-mail, please check your inbox (and spam box) to check for their automatic reply. Once you get it, please reply to it immediatly (even if it's from an no-reply e-mail addres) to make sure an Spotify employee will get back to you as soon as possible.

I've just taken a look and I can see that you had two accounts with us; one directly through us and one created through FB. 

I've just deleted the empty FB-created account, so you should be able to change the details on your original account now.

If you can't, get in touch via PM so I can take a couple of security details from you. We should be able to get you up and running in no time.
