Album artwork in picture library

Since downloading and using spotify my picture library has become full of album artwork from spotify that redownloads whenever I delete it. Is there a way to stop this artwork appearing in my pictures library?

When you say picture library, where do you mean? The album art should be downloaded to a private cache folder - it shouldn't appear in the gallery app at all.

The album artwork has to be cached.

The artwork is appearing in my default android gallery application.
If I delete the photos they reappear after some time.

What is their location on the file system?

Once you find it, create an empty file called .nomedia in that folder, reboot your device and the pictures will stop showing in the gallery.

Odd, it shouldn't do that. 

Out of curiosity what phone/ROM do you have?

If you want to get rid of the cached images from the gallery you can create a blank file in the directory the pictures are located and name it ".nomedia" this will tell the gallery not to display them.

Alternatively the App QuickPic can do this for you.

That fixed the problem,and I'm using the Sony Z1 compact with android 4.4.2 installed. Thank you
