Kindle Fire HD won't recognize Spotify Unlimited subscription.

I just bought a Kindle Fire HD 8.9 and after installing Spotify I connected with my Facebook account.  Now when playing fomr playlists or radio I am having commercial breaks every few minutes, but I have an active Spotify Unlimited subscriptioin in order to be able listen commercial free.  So far I cannot even find anywhere to check subscription status in the Kindle Fire app.  On my desktop and laptop I still have a commercial free listening experience... so this has to be something up with the app.

What gives? I was thinking of going to Spotify premium, but now I'm having real doubts about whether to continue my Unlimited subscriptions.  😕

Unlimited only gives ad-free listening on a PC, not on a tablet. Take a look at the chart in this post which sets out the differences between the three tiers across devices.
