I'm experiencing this exact same problem. Did you find a solution?

Spotify on Transformer Prime (latest update)
Tablet experience bad:
- Offline playlists: spotify will go offline if you want to download a playlist (known issue for long time but spotify refuses to solve this in reasonable time)
- No landscape view for tablet
- Spontaneous autopause. It doesn't crash but you have to force kill the task Spotify.
- Usability for editing playlists is bad on tablet, at least it should be better than for phone, because there is more room on the screen for editing purposes.
Only positive: Since last update less crashes.

Since the release of the new Spotify client I've seen the data usuage of the app sky rocket. A 30 min listen while walking to work seems to use up 3+ MB. This is without streaming any content, all pre downloaded. I do have Last.Fm Scrobbling enabled, but this was also running on the last version. 3MB isn't a lot to use but when you consider that some people are capped at 500MB use per month then it becomes significant use. With my current cap I'd only be able to listen to Spotify for 5 hours or so.
A more detailed description, using numbered steps
1. I leave house and disconnect from WIFI
2. Have Last.Fm Scrobbling on
3. Listen to downloaded playlist
3. Notice that 30 min listen generates about 3MB of data usage
What I expected to happen
300k of data usuage to have occured, not 3MB.
What actually happened
Not sure as not had a chance to run wireshark to see what all the data usage is. Will try without Scrobbling enabled.

Did some more testing and can officially say it has nothing to do with Scrobbler. Here is an updated detailed description:

Trawled through multiple support blogs and found very little feedback from the company

Did you restart your phone?
Yes. Multiple times - seriously!? You're going to ask me if I restarted my phone?
What I expected to happen
To have the product continue to work. To NOT through money after a broken product. To have SOME feedback and not the usual "uh, well, it's not an exact science" speech.
What actually happened
Not a g--d-mn thing - nothing - loads of upgrades and restarts and payments later - nothing changes

Why bother!? nothing will be fixed...29-07-2012 10:16 PM - edited 29-07-2012 10:27 PM
Is there any way that you guys could set the Play version to the last stable release while you fix these obvious and gaping holes in this trainwreck of a new app? I fully understand that lots of time and effort went in to the new release, but I can honestly say that at times it has the functionality of gravel. This is easily the worst 'professional' app on the market, meaning that you've even managed to top facebook in the useless cr-app awards. Please just revert until you've included all of the old features and fixed the swaithe of errors, bugs and generally crap bits.
