UPDATE: Idea created for Spotify to create an official open- or closed-beta testing program as this Android release has proved extremely useful. Information and comments about the new release app are now spread over several main threads and included in various others so I thought I'd try to collate information from the others to let Spotify know what we're missing from the old app and what we'd most like added.

I'll keep this top post updated as I see things posted in the other threads or in replies here - Thanks!

Firstly, if you don't have the new app yet, get it from the Play store.

So, onto the lists, split into features we miss that were previously available and then (popular) wishlist requests, not necessarily ordered:

Old features we miss that were there before:

• Now-playing queue / queue management (confirmed to be in development) done, although no play queue re-ordering
• Homescreen widget done
• Last.fm scrobbling (confirmed to be in development) done
• Landscape orientation (current version works if forced with a third-party app like https://play.google.com/store/search?q=set+orientation)
• Playing of local files (own MP3s on SD card)
• Option to view entire Library and hence to start playback of all tracks
• Option on login to change storage location done - app will automatically use location with largest free space
• Menu option to exit app (not really needed on Android, however still a nice to have)
• Menu option to clear app cache done
• Consistent support for 'menu' hardware button on phones that still have it (still required?)
• Search within single playlist done
• Name of album shown against songs in a playlist, not just track name and artist
• Ability to view regional Top Tracks
• Ability to use Voice Search input
• Memory of Shuffle setting between sessions done
• Memory of Continuous Play setting between sessions
• 'Add to playlist' option when viewing options for an album (in addition to current 'Add as playlist' option)
• Option to open Spotify links in other apps (e.g. Shazam, browser) in the Spotify app done

Wishlist:

• Folder support (confirmed to be in development) done
• Tablet support and optimisations (see landscape support above - but tablets also offer possibilities for better layout)
• Radio support done as of 31/07/2012
• Spotify app support
• Generic lockscreen widget (* exists already? see below *)
• Playlist sorting done - can now sort, but only A-Z
• Abiltiy to repeat a single track 
• Search within playlists when offline done
• Built in equaliser (* see below)
• Continuation of playback when headset is reconnected
• Cleaner view of Downloaded vs. All playlists done - downloaded playlists now not repeated under All Playlists
• Add 'Play' as an option on the long-press and arrow menus - e.g. when long press or selecting a playlist or album an option to immediately play it, rather than going into it and selecting the first item in the list
• Add 'Profile' as an option in the main menu. Currently to get to your personal profile you need to go through a playlist and click your name
• Search should include Playlists
• Crossfading done
• Stop playback on bluetooth disconnection
• Music playback controls in the Notification bar (seen on Jelly Bean demo slide at Google IO)
• Remember play queue and last track played on opening the app done
• Ability to choose between light (current) and dark theme for colours and text - darker suits some people better and more blacks would aid bettery life for phones with AMOLED screens
• Support for wifi only devices (following discovery today that that lack of an IMEI causes the 'forced offline' issue even when connected to a wifi network) done
• Send track info over bluetooth (AVRCP)
• Support for local FLAC and ALAC files as well as MP3
• Syncing over 4G
• Ability to edit/reorder playlists manually
• Remote control of playback on other device (e.g. PC) from Android Spotify app
• Predictive search
• Airplay or DLNA push capability
• Ability to create playlist folders in mobile app
• Setting for 'Streaming only on wifi'

* Lockscreen controls - Not sure if it's generic, but users with the HTC One X (HTC Sense) the Galaxy Nexus (stock ICS) and the Galaxy S (custom 4.0.4 ROM) have been able to get lockscreen controls. If you don't see it after install, a user posted this solution: 

"Clear the app data under [system] settings and launch the app again (weirdly doesn't require you to log back in again?) 

As I say, working on my HOX with sense and my friends GNexus on stock ICS. HTH."

* Built in equaliser - added in September 5th 2012 update but only supports ICS and above and not every phone (it seems), so is not crossed off yet

Hi! I've been testing the new app and it's awesome! But I have a few suggestions to do: - Queue manager is missing - Change the navigation for the playlist section. The "All" section is at the bottom if you have too many downloaded playlist, I prefer the style of the "artist section" view. - Cover image in the notification menu Feel free to add another ones

Good list... being able to change SD location is VERY important.

Also please add "notification bar controls" to wish list.

Overall a very good start to the app. Very pleased.

Not saying it's not a valid feature request, but you're the first person I think I've seen requesting this. Apart from Sense, I've also not seen any other apps that have added this - is it possible with stock Android? Are there any example apps you can mention that have this feature?

A much needed thread at the moment to pull eveything together. It'll help the Spotify devs too. I urge everyone to give this kudos to get it up the rankings and visible from the home page.

Maybe I misunderstand, but it already is split - shows Downloaded playlists first, then underneath you get the All Playlists list
