On ubuntu 12.04 64-bit it's also unable to play local files
sudo apt-get install libavformat53:i386 libavcodec53:i386 libgsm1:i386 libschroedinger-1.0-0:i386 libvpx1:i386
avoids spotify from crashing but the song isn't played either
But the bug with the offline.bnk file is away thanks for that (y)

I have fixed so that both libavcodec52 and libavcodec53 can be used, it'll be in the next version. I'll release it as soon as I fix the crash problem. Do all of you who have problems have 64 bit?

Excellent! It's great that you listen to and communicate with your customers.
And yes, 64-bit here too (on 10.04 and 11.10).

I am also on 64bit

No problems at all on 64 bit running Ubuntu 101.10. WINE running windows version also runs well, like it is right now. No extraordinary efforts to install either, just the fix for flashplayer posted early on in the thread.

No, I have 32 bit (and my problem is that I can't play local files anymore), Ubuntu 10.04.

32 bit, and local files can not be played. It worked for me in the prior release.

Local files are unable to play on ubuntu 10.04 because libavcodec53, the next version will fix it as parbo said
