Absolutely worthless

Right now your "preview" hasn't been updated since 2010?! How can we take you seriously. At this point I'd prefer you made no effort for Linux beacuse at least you wouldn't be teasing us. Right now I feel like your the one in a relationship playing games, telling us you promise you are ready, etc.

No you're not. Your client doesn't even install anymore for me and even when I did get it running it wouldn't play back local tracks because it was looking for ancient libraries that don't exist.

I'm not worried about playback though, thanks to Clementine cleaning up your mess, we can listen through their app. Unfortunately it doesn't give us the ability to organize and add new music. Yet for some reason you guys don't even provide this on your website either.

That's of course after noticing how many artists keep pulling music off your service. Maybe the time to cancel is now. I'm definitely feeling like a neglected customer at this point, I guess the quesion is whether or not Linux users are considered second class customers or if you actually care about custumers at all.

Re: Absolutely worthless

You should really try to find more information before blaming the developers... The application has been updated for the last time the 14th of February of this year... (0.6.6) and has always been maintained. The webpage on the website is not up-to-date but several packages are available for the most common distros out there (like here for Arch Linux http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=38847 and the repo is updated for Ubuntu and Debian http://bit.ly/A1jm74)

Re: Absolutely worthless

FYI, they're very clear about exactly what they promise with the Linux version:

https://www.spotify.com/us/download/previews/

"This is a preview build of Spotify for Linux. As a preview release this version is still unsupported, but we're running it ourselves and will try to make sure it keeps pace with its Mac and Windows siblings, there are issues regarding decoding of local music on the Linux platform so we haven't included support for local files in this version."

Use at your own risk, like everything else in Linux. The last thing the devs need is some entitled ingrate ranting at them for not getting it just perfect.

Re: Absolutely worthless

I agree with drakej. Spotify worked well on Linux for some time, but it's slowly gone downhill and now I do not bother anymore.

There are better (and more portable) options out there for music; I've unsubscribed and moved on.
