The iPhone app has it and that is what I use but I have always wished it was on the Mac version as well.

Just buy Airfoil, then you can stream anything at all from your computer to any other computer or any Airplay or any Airtunes enabled device. There are people at the moment having real problems with Airplay and getting low quality audio - no such problem with Airfoil. You can try before you buy - but for a few dollars it's a no-brainer!

I've never had a problem with Airplay between the 7 OS X/iOS devices we own and the three sets of speakers we have hooked up to it.  Saying there's a program out there that I could buy to get what is becoming basic functionality in iOS/Mac OS X is a bit of a cop-out.  Heck, even some Android apps can use Airplay.

I'm sorry but what low quality issues are there with AirPlay? I think the low quality issues are from AirFoil and the SoundCloud or whatever software you have to install and the 5 second delay it puts on all audio.

FYI. MOG has AirPlay built in their app I just realized

Tinny sound, really obvious - not a subjective audiophile thing. 7.6.1 update to Airport Extreme/Express caused this in my friends system instantly - terrible! Airfoil was perfect! Not sure why you are getting a 5 second delay - mines about 1 second? We eventually identified the 2.4Ghz network quality was really poor (about 1Mb/s!!) and maybe Airplay down samples to compensate? I have also noticed Airplay slowing down a song and then speeding up again if it is a really bad connection - that was to portable Airplay device - can't remember which one.

Airplay is brilliant, use it all the time - but it can break but still play. Airfoil has been around for years and can be be very useful when your sending device isn't Airplay compatible, or indeed to turn any device on which it can run into a pair of Airtunes/Airplay speakers. I know a another friend uses it to stream Ipod Touch to his Mac Mini and then into his hi-fi.

Anyway. Yes we do want Airplay built in - but there are solutions if you are desperate and can't wait!

i think its much more than cant wait. there seems to be no move to intergrate the desktop client with airplay. which given that it works with the mobile app (and of course if they ever bother to make an ipad app) is strange

I use Airplay on my ipad and iphone and airfoil on my Mac mini that's connected to my home entertainment center.  I have an airport express in my office, apple tv in my kitchen, and an old iphone connected to a speaker dock in my bedroom running the free "speaker" app.   I can easily send spotify to one, some, or all of these devices over my wireless network with no audio quality issues at all.  I am a professional musician and very particular about my music.  This setup sounds fantastic.  Everything is perfectly in sync as I walk through the house as well.

It'd be nice to have airplay in the app, but really how hard is it to just turn it on by double clicking your home button?
