Re: random people on my people list??

Oh, and I forgot. people I have actually added I can remove (right click then click Remove this person. But the mysterious random contacts I cannot. When I right click on them they do not have this option available.

Re: random people on my people list??

Logged on 3-4 times. My right column just keeps "Loading" and spinning.  Random strangers still on the "people" page.

Re: random people on my people list??

As today and in version 0.8.2.610 the bug is still present. Even with latest restart of the client it even got worse. Having only one person in my stream from my friends and more than 20 random people.

I know it doesn't affect the service as it's defined but such a privacy outage for so long is worrisome.

Re: random people on my people list??

Same issue.

It had happened before as well, maybe a month or so ago, but then dissappeared, and now is back again. Seems to be one of many tiny issues plaguing the product.

Re: random people on my people list??

This is it. I am cancelling my subscribtion. By the way Spotify treats this problem, and this thread, it is obvious that privacy is way way down on their agenda. But it is not on mine. I understand that this act alone will not make the slightest difference, but maybe if you joun me it will.

Obviously, Spotify has become one of those organisations where only money talks.

Shame, It was a very enjoyable ride.

Goodbye, and thanks for all the music.

Re: random people on my people list??

We now have April which means the problem seems to be known for three months. I tried installing Spotify on three different computers (one Windows, two Mac). Each of them shows a different list in "people". One computer seems to have a full list of my facebook friends. The next one only two or three. The "on Spotify" tab shows a maximum of two, while the recently played list has at least four people who apparrently use Spotify.

An then there are still around 50 random people showing up. Uninstalling an reinstalling only clears everything for the moment. But after starting to use Spotify, 50 new random people show up. Maybe this is why the english UI says "people" and not "friends" (like in the German translation "Freunde").

Is anybody still working on that?

Re: random people on my people list??

A fix for this is available at the backend. I won't go into details.

It turns out that reinstalling Spotify will actually (at the moment) reintroduce the problem.

Exiting Spotify (File > Exit || Spotify > Quit) should prompt the application to update the appropriate module.

(at least this is what we have been told. Please let us know).

Quitting Spotify is not helping.

Re: random people on my people list??

Hi,

thanks for your reply. It seems the Mac Clients behave a bit more friendly now: On one system I see only the friends on spotify (but no other facbook friends). On the other system I have the full Facebook list, including those, who have alredy deleted their account :-( Unfortunately although I see the actual profiles, the recently played section in the lower right shows mostly user ids instead of names.

I still have no luck with the windows machine. Although I have restarted spotify several times over the last days, I still have all the random people. The recently played issue also shows here.

Also, I'm a bit concerned about software silently updating in the background. On one hand this makes it hard to know what version with which modules are actually running and so you will have a hard time debugging issues like that. On the other hand I prefer (as an advanced user) to know what software is running at which time on my machine. I usually set all software update options to "notify me". Updates happening silently in the background give me a gut feeling of malware :-(

Thanks,

Karsten
