it says the song is playing but theres no sound. i know its not my speakers cuz theyre working with youtube and everything else.

Hi,

There can be a number of reasons why you’re not hearing any sound from Spotify. Please check the following:

1. Check that the volume level is high in Spotify. The volume controller is at the bottom left of the Spotify window. Try adjusting the sound.

2. (Windows Vista / Windows 7 only)

Make sure that Spotify is running. Then go here:
Start » Control Panel » Sound / Adjust system volume

See if Spotify has its own volume channel in the Volume Mixer. If it does, see that the level is high, and that it's not muted.

3. Perform a full reinstall of Spotify. The instructions for your operating system can be found here:

4. Update your soundcard driver software.

I've found that the problem is a little bug, just right click your sound icon at the bottom right and click "Open Volume Mixer" then scroll to the side until you find the spotify symbol at the top of a volume bar. Just mute that volume bar then unmute it.
