Who does it work for?
I cannot sync my playlists on iPhone or iPad. I am not even trying to play local files on iPhone. Any help would be appreciated.I have Unlimited Spotify.

Same here! Tried every possible combination of stopping and starting Windows client, app, and WiFi: nothing seems to help. Pretty useless this way, I'm starting to regret having signed up!

I just got an email back from Spotify Support. They said to try another WiFi, meaning that they really do not have a solution.
I think I'm going back to purchasing songs on iTunes. If i'm going to be spending money on music, I'd like to actually be able to listen to it all wherever I am; online or offline. In the meantime, I suggest using Spotify's free service to discover new music and satisfy those random "I really want to hear that one song" moments.

While its good to see that you are still monitoring this thread, i (and others i guess) have already tried your solutions posted below numerous times, so you need to come up with other solutions because they do NOT work at all.
If you go back to page 5 and read my post, you'll some other problems I've got (and im sure others have those problems, too.)
But repeating the same "try both phones to same wifi etc" is getting too used and old. It doesn't work.

Have you tried playing around with the UPnP settings too?
EDIT - Another tip taken from our friends over on the Android board. Someone managed to get their device to appear by resetting the router. Might be an idea?

This solved my problem!
I have an iPhone 4s that wouln't show up under devices. I solved the problem by turning-off the Offline mode on the Spotify app on my phone.
1) Go to Settings on the Spotify app on your iPhone
2) Switch Offline Mode switch to Off
3) Launch your Spotify desktop
4) Wait a few seconds and your phone should appear under devices.
5) Begin syching as normal.
6) When you want to playback your synced music, go under settings again and switch the Offline Mode switch to On
I came across this via trial and error. It worked for me. I hope it does for you, too.

Wow. Ladies and gents, after mutliple posts complaining about this topic, I finaly got Spotify to recognize my iPhone. Unfortunately, I'm not 100% sure how or why. I'm normally at university on a school network, but I didn't think that was the problem because my phone wouldn't show up under devices on my home wireless router either.
However, I just came home from school for the weekend, and for some reason, it suddenly showed up on my home wireless network. It never has before when I've been home, until now. I think this may be because when I was at school a week or two ago, I disabled my firewall for Spotify in particular as per a previous poster's suggestion. It didn't work because I was on my school network, which I'm sure is encrypted with 100 million security thingies. But this is the first time I've been on my home wireless and my firewall has been disabled, and voila, it worked. So:
1 - Try it on a home router rather than a large network such as at a school or office
2 - Make sure to disable your firewall specifically for Spotify (on a Mac --> system preferences --> security --> firewall --> allow incoming connections for Spotify)
3 - When I first opened my computer on my home wireless network just now, my iPhone didn't show up. I 'quit' spotify and relaunched it, and it suddenly recognized my phone. I know this has been mentioned before, but give it another go.
I know that this hasn't been working for most of you...my suggestion would be to get in touch with the IT department at your respective organizations, whether it's school or the office, and work with them on this, because honestly, Spotify Support can't really be held responsible for the additional levels of security most group networks are hosted on . If you're on a personal home router, then follow Meredith's suggestions about toggling the uP2P or whatever, disable your firewall, then relaunch the program.
hope that helps!
