Still (always) online login necessary to listen offline ?

Is there a new development ?

For example: I can´t use my offline playlists on a plane, because I forgot to login before departure (if hotspot available for my Ipod) ???

Do I always have to login online befor offline use is possible ???

What version of iOS and Spotify are you using?

iOS 7.0.4 and Spotify 0.9.1.230

Just tried this out since I know there where issues in the past. But I can confirm if I kill Spotify, put the phone in airplane mode, reboot the device and then relaunch Spotify it does defaults to offline mode and I can play my playlists.

Thanks for your answer, but (for me) it doesn´t work this way !

Even after a reboot in airplane mode spotify leads me always to a login screen.

There it is asking me to turn off the airplane mode to get a networlk connection .....

This is not really offline !!!

Do you normally login using Facebook?

yes, I am connected to my fb account. Actually I try to change it to a regular spotify account / login.

Do you think this is making a difference ?

It might do!

If you have a Spotify username and password for that account try logging in using those details. 

If your account was created via Facebook (so you won't have a proper username), follow the steps for partner devices here to set a device password and retrieve your numerical username and then try those details for logging into Spotify on your device.

It works fine now.

I think this problem should get a new heading in the FAQ section, because nobody will find the solution to that problem under the actual header (which leads you only to sonos etc.)

PS: Is it possible to change the device username given by the system (only numbers) to a self selected name, so I can remember that name easier ???

Unfortunately not (annoying I know!).

Thankfully it should remember your login details so you shouldn't need to login again unless you actually log out.
