Mine has been doing this for the past 3 weeks. I think I'm going to give this a week longer or demand my money back.

I've been having the same problem for the past couple of weeks. I assumed it would be fixed in a new release of the application, but clearly not! Currently waiting on a support ticket with Spotify, hopefully they'll be able to tell me something useful other than "try uninstalling the application", which I've now done several times!

Same issue here. Starting a few weeks ago the app will crash within 10-20 seconds of booting if it is not in offline mode. Tried all of the suggestions here. Figured it was crashing while syncing playlists so I deleted all of my playlists (which took me over a year to put together)...still crashes. Uninstalled and reinstalled app...still crashes. Nothing works.
I'll probably give it another week or so and then cancel my Premium account if no movement on this issue. In the meantime I'll just use Rdio, which is working great. I'm back to square one on playlists anyway so I'll probably just start building them up again on Rdio.

Blackbox diagnosing iOS apps is a pain in the bottom, but hopefully this will be a start for someone to investigate the problem? I don't know if my playlists have moved servers, and I obviously don't know how the app works but I can reproduce the problem every single time using the steps above.
Hmm. An interesting diagnosis. I wonder if playlists are causing a problem here? I'll dig deeper.

Same problem here. Crashes seconds after interacting (Skipping forward or backward). When i leave it just playing it works for hours.

I don't know if I'm supposed to laugh of cry... Of course it's the playlists that are causing the problem. Even I could pinpoint that just from reading the first few posts in this forum, including my own!
I agree with samchampionuk! If you still have this problem and still havn't unsubscribed from this crap, please do! This is totally unacceptable behaviour from one of the biggest (if not the biggest) music streaming services out there!
I hope people also are aware of that there are other alternatives to Spotify. Personally I downloaded WiMP and transfered my playlists (yes you can automatically transfer playlists) from Spotify to their client instead. They had 95% of my songs and the last 5% were pretty uncommon songs which can easily be found elsewhere.
In addition to WiMP I'm also using SoundCloud to listen to the more alternative and unknown artists. I also have to add that both of these clients are available as applications on smartphones.
David: I sure hope you brought a big shovel because in that pace you will have to dig long before you find the problem!

Trust me, we are well aware that parts of our code needs an overhaul - we are in the process of rewriting those parts right now. Devs have been killing a lot of crash bugs these last couple of weeks, but it's a big change to core functionality and we want to make sure we're not introducing any new bugs, so that's why it's taking some time.
As I've said before though, the crashes described in this thread are not all the same and that's why there's not one universal solution to all of them.
If you, for example, had your playlists sorted in folders, and they have somehow magically been reordered or are just acting weird in general, in turn causing the client to crash, then it's an old backend issue (that has been fixed) and David or someone else from customer support can help you sort it out.
If you're having the "playlist update" problem seen above, then it's a timing/threading issue in the client. I've only managed to reproduce that issue once, on the subway and with bad connection, and in my case going offline for a minute or two helped. I know it's worked for some others as well. It's not a good solution, but might help some of you until we have the new client out.
@alanmc - CS can help you get your playlists back, if you want.
Last but not least; I know you guys are frustrated, understandably so, but please don't take it out on those who are actually trying to help you.
That is all. Sorry to the tl;dr crowd.
