[Ads] Ads Filter

I know we can't pick and choose what ads to see, but at least for a teensy bit of decency (especially for people listening to spotify in a professional work environment) can we not have half naked Victoria's Secret super sexy models?

Personally, I could care less about ads. And in fact, I am a woman who shops at Victoria's Secret. Still- I just had an awkward moment with some coworkers AND my boss. I'd like very much for that not to happen again. In the very least, how about an image that isn't half the size of the window?

I know no one's going to agree, and believe me, I'd be the last person to complain about spotify (it's awesome). But seriously, it's a bit much.

Thanks.

First of all, I love spotify, but today listening to an advert for an song which was full of swearing, hardcore swearing. This is terrible, specially if you have children around, fortunate I did not. There must be some guidelines you need to follow like they do for TV and Radio, or have a feature for Parental control to stop this happening.

Looks like it will take a lawsuit for them to implement some form of ad control. I'm surprised that someone or their lawyer hasn't tried to sue Spotify for mental anguish or other claim that their family was harmed by the content of ads, especially the explicit language ads that are playing at the moment.

I don't get Victoria Secret ads, but my trouble is with album advertisements. How many times do I have to look at a half dressed woman trying to sell their album by using their body? The last one I saw was J-Lo. I don't even listen to her music! It's difficult to enjoy music when every time I look at a song I'm being aroused...at work. I'd rather not have that reminder of how prone I am to temptations. It's difficult to avoid sin when you can't opt out of it (except by paying money). I'd rather stop using the service and go to another service where I don't get the scandalous ads.

These ads do not work for me, they do the very opposite of what they are meant to do.

I'm getting really sick of hearing country music ads over my rock music, the same McDonalds ad 30 times in a row, and Transformers by Michael Bay when I'm listening to Simon & Garfunkel. Can we please get some better ad targeting or a way to give feedback on which ads are relevant? I don't mind hearing ads, but when they're completely irrelevant to me and sometimes outright annoying, it really bugs me. I'd even be more than happy to even list what kinds of ads I'd be most likely to be interested in. Heck, I'll mention it right here: video games and technology; I work in IT and my primary hobby is PC gaming. I think I've heard one ad that's been relevant to me in the entire time I've used Spotify (several years) and it was on a game that I already planned to buy, I think. I understand there are privacy concerns with ad targeting, but it seems like that could just be an opt-in thing for people like me who are extremely irritated by irrelevant and annoying ads.

I often think this to myself, but then realise someone must be paying for it so Spotify probably don't really care what the advert is.

Bad ads are pointless, they cause the user to lose interest (I take my headphones off for 30 seconds and pick them back up again). I can understand they want as much people on premium as possible, but its **bleep** value all round to both the listener & the advertiser if Spotify are irresponsibly scattergunning their adverts anywhere.

Targeted adverts will improve advertisers rate of return, and with said improved rate of return, the value of Spotify as an advertising medium increases.

In other words, when I mainly listen to ambient stuff and/or guitar based music, having Tiesto, Professor Green, Avicii , and Melissa Steel - Kisses for Breakfast shoved in my face, isn't any good to anybody.

Most of us login through Facebook anyway, so it's not as if they don't have a ton of data to use when they're planning who should be exposed to what adverts.

The last Miley Cyrus ad was the last straw. It's full pornography in your app spotify. It's NOT acceptable.

Spotify desperately needs to change this issue. Specifically, the recent borgore ad is nothing but softcore porn, and is so unsettling I felt the need to say something. As has been suggested, you could generate ads from listening history, or add a toggle. If you merely adjusted the audiences certain ads were shown to, it would make everyone happier. As the viewer would be more likely to click, causing the titleholder/record company to get more revenue, spotify users would be kept more satisfied (less likely to start using rdio). Also, as has been mentioned, while individuals may not have a problem with more adult ads, a toggle option would be nice for use in public settings/settings where bosses and children are present. Some may not be of this stance, but I personally do not wish to see so much nudity, I am not asking on behalf of my place of employment, or children, I am asking for myself. If nothing changes, and other services have more decent ads, I will switch.

Yes Sometimes Adds are very inapropriate.

I.E. obviously Kids are listening an Adds for alcohol are showing up, or political Adds!

This is a problem.

The only party who willingly did that, where in Germandy around in 1930!! You know who I mean.

Not Okay!

I agree wholeheartedly.  I am sick and tired of offensive advertisements - from barely censored curse words to barely covered women - the advertisements have gotten steadily more offensive.  Please, Spotify, clean up your act - or at least give users the option to block offensive ads.
