Inappropriate ads

After the condom ad fiasco I would think Spotify would scrutinize their ads a little better. The current ad for lingerie and sex stuff is not what I want playing at work or with the kids around. There the kids were, listening to THE BIBLE of all things and this ad for valentines day sex stuff comes on. Our consideration for a premium account died right there. I can't and won't pay for an account without assurance that a better ad policy is in place.

I just wanted to apologize for complaining about the ads some time ago. I should just have gotten a premium-subscription instead like jwylot said 🙂

I hope you enjoy Premium.

I use Premium since 2010 December and I'm happy. There is really no need for ads!

I absolutely agree. The latest Chozen ad is insulting, and even worse, it's not even funny. Give us the option to choose "I don't want to see this" when that kind of crap shows up.

Honestly, Spotify should progressively profile their non-paid users so they can target them with advertising that's better targeted. Once you collect some demographic and psychographic information about your users, you can serve up contextually relevant ads. I don't mind ads as long as they are appealing to my interests. 🙂

I couldn't agree more. As an elementary school music teacher, spotify is a fantastic tool. However, these ads keep popping up on my SMARTboard of half-naked women, and there's nothing I can do about it. I always drag the window so that the ads on the side are hidden, but that's clearly not good enough because then the ads pop up full screen. I want to be able to keep my job while using this fantastic educational tool. Please help us filter the ads!

I presume you're criticizing the free product? In this situation, you get what you pay for. Why not pay for a premium account to remove the ads? In addition, you can use it with your mobile device and the artists you listen to get paid royalties. It's a win-win.

Otherwise, listen to Pandora or iTunes Radio or some sort of other free app...

@LightenUpGear Just to clarify (it's probably a misunderstanding on my part), rights holders get paid royalties no matter what platform you're on.

I don't get sex toy ads, but my trouble is with album advertisements. How many times do I have to look at a half dressed woman trying to sell their album by using their body? The last one I saw was J-Lo. I don't even listen to her music! It's difficult to enjoy music when every time I look at a song I'm being aroused...at work. I'd rather not have that reminder of how prone I am to temptations. It's difficult to avoid sin when you can't opt out of it (except by paying money). I'd rather stop using the service and go to Grooveshark or Pandora where I don't get the scandalous ads.

I don't see how the ad affected your consideration for a premium account negatively. If anything, I would hope ads like these would encourage people to want a premium account even more, so they never have to here ads at all

I just got another one with a naked woman on it; the only thing she was wearing was some tape over her nipples. It was an ad for "Borgore." I'm at work still, and either way I don't want to be aroused by an image. I mean really? This is ridiculous, it's practically softcore porn on an advertisement.

I keep getting in trouble at work for being all sweaty and unusual and creepy due to all the risque adds that are here!  I can't even listen to Charolette Church and these ads keep popping up with scantily clad, voluptuous redheads eating french vanilla ice cream cones and brushing Persian kittens.  My scruples are in jeopardy here!

I am a Flemish (Dutch-speaking) citizen, but recently has spotify decided to play the ads in French (sometimes there are still some Dutch ads in between). Can you please change it back to 100% Dutch?

I know I have a free account and have no issues with ads, but not in a language that is not mine.

Hoping for a quick, positive and constructive response.

I'm sorry you have ads in Language you don't understand.

Have you visited France last time? This may be the stuff, why you hear ads in this language also. In time ads should improve. The IP of country, you was once, can push ads in this language. Try also to log out from and log in back - look for some improvements with this.

I visit sometimes English sites, but didn't receive any ads in English ...
weird.

It's just the fact that this is so annoying. And I can't figure out how to

amazing. My 4 year old is listening to Lego's Ninjago when Shaggy's Go **bleep** Yourself ad comes on. Spotify sensors the word and won't let me make a user account with the same name but they're fine letting ads run with the word **bleep** in it when kids are listening. Go **bleep** Yourself spotify.

So this i from 2013. I was listening to the todler radio statrion with my 2 year old and I got to listen to the trojan condom add. This is rediculus if this is still happening a year and  half later.
