Re: Hello Germany. Spotify here.

This is good news but it sucks Brits are being charged roughly 40-50% more than Americans and roughly 20% more than people in Euro countries.

€10 roughly translates to £8.31

$10 USD roughly translates to £6.38

Or to put it another way:

$10 USD roughly translates to €7.68.

In other words, Americans are paying a lot less than Europeans for the same service! Which is especially annoying when Spotify is a European brand.

Hi,

how does the German calalogue compare to the UK one? Does copyright issues mean that we'll miss lots of songs?

I currently use a UK account - but would happily change over to the German one, IF I dont lose access to my songs etc.

Thanks.

Re: Hello Germany. Spotify here.

hi, really glad that spotify is now available in germany, too. i really hope that this business model works out and that maybe in the future other types of media are available in the same way e.g. tv and movies.

time to move my music library from grooveshakr to spotify :)

Re: Hello Germany. Spotify here.

Spotify price varies from country to country.

It does not seem odd to me, because prices vary country to country anyway; eg food.

I use Huawei Ascend P1 with 2M mobile 3G network & Acer Aspire V3 with 100M mobile 4G network. Spotify Free user April 2009 - November 2010 and Spotify Premium user December 2010 - for now. I am Community veteran until the end. If you find my post very helpful, please add your kudos - thanks!

Expanding into New Markets

I have a student at #NKU examining strategy of Spotify. How many markets is Spotify in? What are they? What are the factors that facilitate or hamper entering a country? So why is Spotify in the USA but not Canada?

[ Edited ]

Spotify is currently available in Finland, France, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Denmark, The Netherlands, the UK, the US, Austria, Belgium, Germany and Switzerland. So that's 13 in total.

We'd love to be everywhere, of course, but there's all kinds of reasons why a new country launch might take a while. Before we can launch we have to agree upon all the rights with various stakeholders. This can be quite time consuming, but we try our best to get things done as quickly as possible whilst ensuring everyone gets a fair deal.
