Radio Goes Mobile

[ Edited ]

Hello!

Yesterday, we were pleased to announce the release of Radio on the iOS version of Spotify. Now, you can create radio stations on the go on your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad.

Radio works very much the same as it does in the desktop version of Spotify - You can start Radio stations from one of the genre choices from the Radio page, or you can start a radio from any artist or playlist you choose. Just tap our little Radio button.

It's learns what you like too. If you love a song, just hit the thumbs up button. This will be saved to a separate "Liked from Radio" playlist, so you can listen to it anytime. Don't like something? Tap the thumbs down, and it will play less music like that.

The news doesn't stop there, however. For people in the US, we've giving you the chance to use Radio totally free. Every so often, you'll hear adverts - Just like you do on the desktop version of Spotify.

This is only on iOS devices at the moment, but we are certainly looking to bring this to other mobile platforms in the future.

We would love to know what you think!

Re: Radio Goes Mobile

Just letting people know:

Spotify has confirmed that the iOS app isn't fully compatible with iOS 6. Radio is one of the features currently not working as well as offline file sync with the iPad.

iOS 6 is currently in beta testing, so there will be problems.

Spotify hopes to fully support iOS 6 soon.

Re: Radio Goes Mobile

I just got the email about spotify mobile radio, and it implies that free users can give a thumbs up and listen to the songs whenever on the playlist, however when I try to play the playlist it still says that that feature is only available for premium users....

clownatmidnite - As a free user, you would only be able to use the Radio feature - Playlists and the like are currently only available under the Premium subscription.

militaryhelllbo - Radio has been in desktop for a little bit - Check under the Apps section.

Re: Radio Goes Mobile

Hi. This announcement says I can create a radio station from an artist I'm listening to on spotify. I was listening to the band doppio (love!) and tried to create a station from doppio. I get the error message "Sorry, this radio station cannot be started. Please try with something else." What's that all about? Is there a particular filter on the music we can listen to/ create a station out of or is something else happening? Thanks for any info!

Some artists need to be in Spotify a little longer, or listened to a little more, in order to build up a library of related artists. I'll be sure to do my part! Cobra sounds lovely and noisy.
