Add support for Google ChromeCast

Will you be adding support to the ChromeCast that Google announced today? Would be great to be able to easily stream music from all my devices to my receiver and tv.

Update: implementing ChromeCast is superior to using the Chrome browser plugin to move a tab with the Spotify web interface to your TV for multiple reasons. Most importantly:

 - You can stream higher fidelity

 - You can stream from every device, not only from a computer/laptop

 - You can control from multiple devices (so if I leave the room my wife can control Spotify with her phone)

 

If implemented correctly this would match the functionality of Sonos for a much lower price.

 

Update February 4th 2014: Okay, so Google has released the SDK now. Please start working on the functionality or at the very minimum give an update to the status...

 

Update February 19th 2014: 2,000 kudos, hundreds of replies (with more than a handful of cancelations). Apparently Spotify Germany has confirmed Chromecast support is coming. An update would be nice

 

Update March 24th 2014: 2,500 kudos and still no update. Cancelled my subscription today. Sorry, but if you don't listen to your paying customers we will have to speak with our wallets.

Just canceled my premium account and moving to google play music.

 

Maybe I'll be back someday if chromecast is supported...

After a few hours of research into the failure/lack of Chromecast support "over a year now" and family pricing plans "more than a few years"  I don't think i'll be getting premium account....

So why does Amazon TV get priority over Chromecast?  Its only been out for a couple of months and you rushed to get spotify on it.  The Chromecast has been out for over a year WTF!

Wow! 15mths, 1,458 comments and 146 pages and Spotify still doesn't think Chromecast is necessary?

 

I currently have 2 Spotify Premium accounts but seriously considering switching to a Chromecast supported streaming service.

This is like a sore tooth, each time I think about casting some music at my entertainment ecosystem i feal the pain of not being able to use spotify.

Wondering when I will decide to extract spotify from my subscription list.

I just cancelled due to you folks not having bothered implementing this feature. I might be back, but def. giving Google Music a try now; as this has just annoyed me for too long not to take any action.

After months of doubts I just cancelled my premium descripsion.... Bye spotify... I love the service but that lack of chromecast support made me dump you... 😞

I just cancelled my premium subscription as it sounds like Chromecast support is not about to arrive any time soon. I have found a another streaming service that supports Chromecast and ticks all the boxes for me.

Is there any reason spotify are ignoring their users and not implementing this?

Only thing I can think of is Licensing issues? 

 

It would probably be one of the best apps out there is this worked
