Add support for Google ChromeCast

Will you be adding support to the ChromeCast that Google announced today? Would be great to be able to easily stream music from all my devices to my receiver and tv.

Please see the Api information here: https://developers.google.com/cast/

Update: implementing ChromeCast is superior to using the Chrome browser plugin to move a tab with the Spotify web interface to your TV for multiple reasons. Most importantly:

 - You can stream higher fidelity

 - You can stream from every device, not only from a computer/laptop

 - You can control from multiple devices (so if I leave the room my wife can control Spotify with her phone)

If implemented correctly this would match the functionality of Sonos for a much lower price.

Update February 4th 2014: Okay, so Google has released the SDK now. Please start working on the functionality or at the very minimum give an update to the status...

Update February 19th 2014: 2,000 kudos, hundreds of replies (with more than a handful of cancelations). Apparently Spotify Germany has confirmed Chromecast support is coming. An update would be nice

Update March 24th 2014: 2,500 kudos and still no update. Cancelled my subscription today. Sorry, but if you don't listen to your paying customers we will have to speak with our wallets.

Updated: 2015-10-22

In collaboration with Google, we’re thrilled to announce one of your most requested features here in The Spotify Idea Exchange is here. Spotify now works with your Chromecast.

With Chromecast, listening at home is easy. Simply plug in and cast music directly from your phone or tablet. Play, skip, browse and search using the Spotify app--all Spotify users will get the on demand experience on Chromecast. Oh, and feel free to make calls, watch a video or play games - the music will keep playing. Even if your battery runs out.

To learn more about how you can listen at home, head over to www.spotify.com/at-home.

I'll be a lock to continue as a Premium user if Chromecast support is added to the Android app. Without it... not so sure. I've tried using the Spotify functionality in my Denon receiver, but the interface is incredibly frustrating to use and not nearly as functional as the native apps. Chromecast support would be a dream come true.

Cancelling my Spotify membership today. I spend way more time on Rdio and Songza since there's built-in Chromecast.

If chromecast support is not there when my free 6 months subscription is up on Sprint, Spotify. I have calendar entry to remind me to cancel. Want me to delete that calendar entry, add chromecast support before then.

Since Spotify doesn't have plans to add Chromecast support in the near future, I've switched to a streaming service that does.  Would have stuck around if it was in the works.  (There wasn't an option to leave a detailed reason why I was dropping premium, so I'm leaving it here.)

Sorry Spotify. I wanted to give you a shot, but you obviously don't care a bit about your paying customers. This is the most requested feature of your customers on this board, and you don't seem to care a thing. I have cancelled my subscription, and i am going to give my money to google instead. If you don't want to give what customers want, you are going to have a hard time..

Dips head into thread....notices no change except more customers making more excellent points for what is quickly becoming and embarrassing exercise in customer Engagement and service reputation. Take a leaf out of Microsofts book and the MONTHLY software and feature improvements to the XB1, whilst some approaches may have been off in the past, they have implemented tons of user requests over the last year. On the plus side, Sonos are doing a 12 Month Deezer deal with any Sonos product. Easy choice for me.

Spotify, please, get a grip. Seamless DLNA functionality through chromecast or other app is essential. How the HE*L could this still be in debate?

I am trying to stream directly from Spotify on my android tablet to my new Audiopro Air One - can't do it.....not possible - THAT IS RIDICULOUS.

I am actually considering getting an ipad, just for this purpose, never even considered apple before.

Yours is the best music service available, at this time. I am a premium subscriber, but without seamless DLNA functionality you are quickly falling behind. If you don't do it someone else will.......

I've been waiting forever for Spotify to add Chromecast support, and I guess it's really just not going to happen. As much as it pains me to have to recreate 3+ years of playlists with another service, I am not going to pay $10 a month anymore for such a subpar service when there are other options available. Spotify has lost another customer thanks to not listening to what people want.

I currently have a two month trial on a service that has chromecast support. I hope that I will be able to "come home" to Spotify once the trial period is over. That absolutely requires chromecast support from Spotify, though. I love the ecosystem but I really need chromecast more than the nice features in Spotify.

Why does everything that massive amount of users want always take years for spotify to add in their app... How long did it take to add landscape mode... Yes indeed... Over a year. I see more then 1000 kudos on this one and also I want chromecast support for spotify. I really don't understand what the hell takes so long all the time....
