Instead of having to fiddle about with playlists and playlist folders, just let us drag artists into the sidebar. Like this.

The artits pages are kep up to date by Spotify with all new releases automatically appearing in there and zero work for the user. All artists have a unique URI, it would be easy.

I think it would be great if u could drag an artist into the side bar and it adds all their music to your library and then it automatically updates when they release new songs. Like an auto updating playlist for each artist.

I don't like the need for playlists right now either.

I'd prefer it the way most music libraries are organized: by artist and album.

So I support what the thread-starter suggests, an option to drag whole artists or albums into the sidebar.

The way rdio does it is ideal. Spotify could easily implement this by grouping starred albums by artist and enabling linking to the artist page from there. Simple. Just can't understand why it hasn't always been like this. I suspect someone high up decided that albums were dead and no one liked them any more. Uhu. Right.

yeah i pretty much made this exact suggestion a month ago, except it would be implemented into the mobile app.  that would rule. but yeah i totally agree with this too, it would make everything a lot more organized.

Does anyone know WHY this actullay isn't imlemented yet ?

It so much more intuitive ... and is very fustrating for most users that are coming from other apps like iTunes .. (and yes, that IS a lot of people) :-/

I would also like a feature that would automatically somehow informe that a certain artist has released new material on Spotify. Maybe it could be just a new playlist type of folder on the left panel like "artists follow-up" or something. Then I could just drag and drop any artist I wish to follow there, and the list would have like a link for each artist and a small notification symbol if something new is available from that artist. 

Oh and I also think that giving the option to sort music by artists and albums in the general spotify view is a good idea. I mean that´s how it´s done in most other music players and it is kind of an intuitive way to browse your favourites.

I would love the spotify app to be organized into artists I star. Sorta like the iPhone ipod app. It would much easier to find my favorite music
