[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

Please Please I support this idea.

I'm surprised that spotify does not have this feature already especially when you consider that these posts are more than 2.5 years old.  I suspect this is one of the top reasons that folks drop Spotify and signup with Pandora or Slacker.  One should question a vendor or service that ignores the voice of its users.

Adding this as a preference to the profile might be an option as well.

It might be a little more work to get to it while on the go, but I suspect there are many people that would prefer to leave the option enabled.

Putting this in the account preference would presumably make it easier to enable/disable controls for children/family memebers.

Can someone please provide an update on this?

It's been four months since the last update when it was still under construction.

This has got to be the worst 'feature' spotify has to offer.

Please make this happen!! I run two clothing stores and usually play Pandora or AOL Radio in both of them, 7 days a week. I wanted to change both stores to premuim or unlimited spotify accounts so that we'd have more options with music and playlists. Love the ability to search for other clothing stores playlists too. However, without being able to filter music and remove explicit lyrics, I can't use Spotify at all. Our stores are in a tourist community and all it will take is one person with a young kid to come in and hear explicit lyrics and suddenly give us bad reviews on Yelp etc. PLEASE make this possible for everyone who wants explicit lyrics and those who don't! 🙂

This would be great for school!  I'd love to be able to use a playlist like Have a Great Day! in my classroom because of the upbeat tracks from many decades, but not if it's going to play CeeLo's original version of F**k You.

Why is it taking so long to implement this suggested feature?

Surely its a must have feature to have the ability to turn off explicit songs and only play the radio edit.

Can we have an update please

As I listen mostly to Rap music, this is quite necessary as I don't want half of my songs to be censored...

Thanks!

+1 This is an obvious NEED. Considering taking my money (yup...I'm a paying customer) to Pandor because of this. Your move Spotify.

Still waiting Spotify. I don't understand why you can't even comment in this thread to at least acknowledge it! You can't keep ignoring your customers! Don't you get it? You work for us. This is what we want, if you don't give it to us, we will leave.
