Playlist sorting options

Status: Under Consideration

I would love to be able to sort my playlists by Artists, then drill down by album so as not to clutter my Spotify. It's pretty hard to organize my playlists the current way. Any ideas on a future iteration that will enable this capability?

Status: Under Consideration

Hello folks!

We are going to mark this as "under consideration" since we have passed it internally and we are working on good ways to improve the playlist sorting options. Keep an eye on this thread, we will update you all as soon as we have news.

Thanks for your feedback and awesome ideas :)

if you click on any "sort" way at the top bar, you can get it back to the order you want/move songs.

say you want to sort by artist ascending...click "artist" once. click it once more to sort by descending. click it once more to not sort alphabetically and to sort by the order songs were added but then you can click and drag songs into any order you wish. you can then get back to that order by "clearing" your sort by clicking on whatever it is sorted by once/twice/three times until the little ascending/descending arrow is gone.

Hi,

One major issue for me, is that there are no way to have the playlists in alphabetical order.

I hope you can implement this in the near future.l

How about adding a function so you can sort the songs in playlists the way you want, by artist, album, name of the song. You should also make a change to the current sorting of songs sortedby date, so that most recent added songs come top of the list, not the bottom.

Just logged on here to post the exact same wish. We need sorting in the playlists.

Currently the only method that has been put forth to be able to sort by Artist is to delete all songs in a playlist (using the desktop app) and re-add them.  That is a terrible way to achieve the desired effect and if that's the only way to accomplish this, something needs to be changed.  To have to delete everything in a playlist and repopulate said playlist just to achieve a SIMPLE sort feature is ridiculous!

When I was with Rdio, I loved their organization method on both their desktop web application and their mobile app, however, their selection was lacking what spotify had.  For this reason (and the fact I had serious issues with their mobile app's reliability on my Android device) I switched to Spotify.  I have tolerated the playlists for now and the "Starred" function has sufficed, but this is the straw that broke the camel's back...  Please take the time to add in this feature.

This. So totally this and everything on this comment thread. The lack of normal sort features (that EVERY other app has), not to mention functionality for searching within a playlist (at least in the beta app) makes Spotify vastly less awesome. Literally every time I load the Spotify app I get angry that something so basic and inherently necessary is missing.

PLEASE fix this.

Party on.

Please give us the feature

This and folders are MUSTS for new app. Also show artist and song title in ICS new lock screen + landscape view are more than desirable. Spotify apps would make it perfect.

I agree.

And i find it very annoying that new playlists are added at the bottom and not on top!
