Collapse buttons for the desktop versions

Status: Not right now

To all Spotify desktop users out there:

There should be collapse buttons on main/apps and collection just like on the playlists. This would make it easier to choose what you want higlighted. It is also a problem on laptop and other monitors with a 16/9 ratio where there is limited vertical resolution.

Hello!

This is a great idea and quite similar to this one, so I would bring the same comment and bring news as soon as we get back to this.

"We've been thinking about this request for a while and we like the idea, but at the moment we are going to mark it as "Not right now". We are working on ways to improve the design of Spotify but we have not come up with a final decision yet. We know some users prefer Apps and social features while others create a lot of playlist and prefer to minimize the album art work. Others use all of them. We're looking at the optimal solution but this isn't the last time you'll hear from us on this topic."

Thanks a lot for your feedback and check out this thread for futures updates!

:)

Cross-fade playback. The PS3 has it and it works really well blending the tracks together. Don't know whether its possible for you guys but would definitely be a fantastic addition.

Dynamic Normalising. Some tracks are louder than others, namely those that were produced a couple of decades ago.

Customisable Equaliser. Another great feature that could enhance the tracks we listen to.

DJ application. Feature and application that allows the user to actively mix tracks together DJ style.

Full mobile experience. Screens are plenty big enough nowadays, desktop layout on mobile? Much love.

I'm just suggesting ideas here, obviously don't know whether its actually possible to integrate them into a streaming app.

Been a premium subscriber for 6+months, great service though potentially lacking feature wise.
An example is PowerAmp, probably the best mobile based music player, packed with equalisers and everything.

With loads of features Spotify would be the obvious choice.

Update the Mac App to fit in with Lion

Status: New Idea

The Mac App still has the leopard-esque grey bar up top, and has built in scrollers, let it fit in with the rest of the UI of Lion, it's been over a year, some change has to happen.

Changed back to "new idea" status - once this idea reaches 40+ kudos the Spotify staff will review it again and decide on a new status. ;)

It would be great to have an "In Playlist" column so that we could see if we have a song in one of our playlist(s)?

This idea has already been suggested here:

Add your kudos there please! ;)

I want to pluck the Browser-style Back/Forward buttons that are available on Desktop version and drop them smack somewhere into mobile version.

i.e. I want the ability to hop Back to the previous song played when it was on a previous playlist- not just back to previous song on current album or playlist- and by extension, the ability to hop Back to that previous playlist.

This modest improvement to functionality could be effected by:

  1. Adding the ubiquitous left/right back/fwd triangle buttons to edges of current area containing REW |<< and >>| FFW
  2. Adding said buttons as a transparent overlay that appears somewhere on top of the album cover
  3. Adding Back/Forward functionality to the options that get called up in dark grey overlay that shows when small i button is activated

I prefer option 3. because it's least disruptive to current UI, the simplicity of which I really enjoy. If users howl for the function to be more front and center then someone on payroll can figure out a solution, I have no doubt.

Option 1. would have a crowding effect. One thing I love about Spotify mobile is the clean and simple feel of the design.

Option 2. would look clunky, and some users may regard that album cover area as inviolable.

'Back' is a great way to not lose track of songs and artists that I haven't yet starred or added to a playlist while I'm discovering new music on desktop version, or just handy for general navigation. Not having this functionality on mobile results in a few additional, frustrating clicks and swipes to go Back when I want to. (Changed my mind about Chief Keef playlist, let's go back to A Day to Remember!) This is exacerbated when playlists are mysteriously cloning themsleves at night like Gremlins.

So...

GIMME.

P.S. If somehow this in there already and I'm just too daft to have noticed it... stellar! Point me in that direction and I'll gladly pipe down.
