I have always been very frustrated with the fact that if I want to listen to a song or use it in a playlist (offline) within the Spotify app, I cannot do so with a song that is already on my device.
Example:
I use the Spotify app on my iPhone for most of my music listening. However, I have a handful of other apps that allow me to listen to my local music through them (like a game or workout app for example), but all these other apps can only see songs on my iPhone that were synced via iTunes. Say I want to listen to a certain playlist or album during my workout using my workout app, but I also want to listen to those same songs later in the Spotify app (offline, to save on data streaming). This would require me to have TWO copies of each song on my device (Which is rediculous! Who has the extra space for that?), one in the native music player library, and one synced using Spotify.
PLEASE find a way for the Spotify app to recognize the existing songs on a mobile device without having to sync them using desktop Spotify. No one should have to have duplicates of local songs on their device. Compatibility with the local native music on a device would be a godsend!
I primarily use Spotify daily while in my car because I am a Marketing Rep which requires my 9-5 is strictly behind the wheel. I've completely replaced my iPod with Spotify but I find it's hard to "Star" a song while on the road. I use my Star folder as a way to eventually organize those songs into my subfolders.
I'm sure you know the way to Star a song already so I won't delve into those details but there is definite room to add a "Star" button by moving the "Last Song - Play - Next Song" buttons more to the left/right and placing the button there.
To avoid running up data charges for those of use without unlimited plans on our mobile devices:
It would be fantastic if spotify could detect the absence of the WiFi network and automatically switch to offline mode to avoid streaming on 3G/4G. Ideally, you could turn this option on or off depending on your preference. Even the ability to simply turn off 3G streaming would be an improvement (this option already exists for synching).
As it is, i have to remember to turn offline mode on and off everytime i leave a wifi network. This frequent toggling of the offline mode has resulted in the loss of my synched content on several occasions. Adding this feature to the settings menu would save me time and money, improve the overall experience of the app, and create another draw for the premium subscription.
Anyone agree? Thanks!
Only ideas with 40+ kudos should have the good idea status.
Thanks Spotify team for adding folders to the playlist section of the Android App, but when I go to playlists and want to open a Folder I have to scroll down all the way to all playlist. This is because there is this really annoying section of only downoalded playlists.
And when I have moved inside of a folder and want to go back, i have to scroll back, because the App doesn't remember the place in the list, where I was...
We don't need a section with only the downloaded playlist. It just makes it much more impractical to use this section of the app.
Just let the not downloaded Playlists disappear when I go to offline mode or something like this. But this is just so annying.
I have 63 playlist downoaded. I have to scroll down all of this playlists to go the the folders. Why?
If you so badly want this feature, please make a own section with just dowloaded playlists or folder. But don't just inundate the playlistsection.
I want to pluck the Browser-style Back/Forward buttons that are available on Desktop version and drop them smack somewhere into mobile version.
i.e. I want the ability to hop Back to the previous song played when it was on a previous playlist- not just back to previous song on current album or playlist- and by extension, the ability to hop Back to that previous playlist.
This modest improvement to functionality could be effected by:
I prefer option 3. because it's least disruptive to current UI, the simplicity of which I really enjoy. If users howl for the function to be more front and center then someone on payroll can figure out a solution, I have no doubt.
Option 1. would have a crowding effect. One thing I love about Spotify mobile is the clean and simple feel of the design.
Option 2. would look clunky, and some users may regard that album cover area as inviolable.
'Back' is a great way to not lose track of songs and artists that I haven't yet starred or added to a playlist while I'm discovering new music on desktop version, or just handy for general navigation. Not having this functionality on mobile results in a few additional, frustrating clicks and swipes to go Back when I want to. (Changed my mind about Chief Keef playlist, let's go back to A Day to Remember!) This is exacerbated when playlists are mysteriously cloning themsleves at night like Gremlins.
So...
GIMME.
P.S. If somehow this in there already and I'm just too daft to have noticed it... stellar! Point me in that direction and I'll gladly pipe down.
