Spotify Ideas

It would be nice if the Spotify client for Windows and OSX had an vertical/smaller display mode to complement the standard horizontal mode. Below is a quick mockup:

It would suit for those occasions when you need to be economical with the desktop space (but still want to keep track on your playlist). For example smaller laptop screens and occasion when you have multiple applications running at the same time (e.g. Spotify next to your browser).

With this mode you could easily “snap” the app to either side of the window. Today you need to minimize/maximize the windows since horizontal layouts only allow a certain level of slimness. Working as a web developer you usually keep track of an a lot of windows on multiple screens. It would be great if you could “snap” Spotify next to outlook or your favourite development tool, instead of having to switch between them.

Since the player would be a bit smaller in the vertical orientation, the UI/functions would probably be a slimmed down (to avoid a cluttered look). But to access all the functions you could just use a hotkey and switch to the complete horizontal mode. Or maybe integrate some "responsive web" thinking for alternating between vertical/horizontal layouts!
