Spotify Ideas

It would be nice to be able to open up the registration system to more people not just Facebook. This idea will never disappear. I figued I'd post it here in this lovely new community of Spotify.

@TylerDurden: I signed during the beta, and therefore facebook connection seems pretty much optional for my account, so I don't have it. However, I like you, find facebook rather pointless, and at the most: narcissistic. 

Additionally, it is very hard for my friends, with FaceBook linked accounts, to share music with me on spotify seeing as the entire friend management aspect has been pretty much deferred to facebook. 

It would be pretty cool to see spotify support more signup options, like plain old vanilla spotify, OpenID, and more.

Yes, I had to find this out the hard way. Frankly I find the restriction to using Facebook ridiculous. I deleted my Facebook for many reasons, one of them being the pettiness and immaturity of it all. I have enjoyed my Spotify, but will be deleting my account due to my personal principles of not having a Facebook. This is may make short term business sense, but by not catering to their customer base, they will ultimately lose. Realistically we are all their customers, whether using the free Spotify, or the paid subscription.

What can I say. S*t Happens. I feel the comment "Good idea, give it some kudoes" status pointles

since to me it seems like there is a deal between Spotify and Facebook that is going to last for a long time.

Facebook paying for this. Don't know how long the agreement is (years anyways) so kinda feel

pointles on having this topic since I bet they would re-enable it everywhere if they actually COULD do anything about it, but since they can't - having this topic open for it and asking for kudoes is just ... whack.

So it seems, but no official information has been given. So either it has been released or its a bug / mistake.

Well I just also want to add I just took out a Premium account but then discovered I need to have a facebook login, so now I'm just going to have to cancel my account as I don't want to link with Facebook - it makes Spotify suck to work like this.

You don't need a Facebook account anymore! If you signed up with Facebook you have to make a new account, but you don't need to link to FB.
