Ability to block or hide podcasts and artists

Having the ability to block podcasts you don’t want to see or artists you don’t want to listen to would be very helpful. I accidentally clicked on a podcast that I have no interest in listening to and I can not get it out of my home page. Being able to block it would be very helpful

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.

We hope you don't mind us moving your post out of the ideas section to one of our Help boards as it fits better here.

We'd like to add some insights here. On Android and iOS, you can remove content recommendations from the "Music" and "Podcasts & Shows" feeds of the Home screen via the Not Interested button 👎. You can find more info about it in the Status update here.

You can also block specific artists you don't want the app playing by heading to the artist page you'd like to block > tap on the 3 dots > select Do not play this artist.

I agree. The constant advertising of podcasts that I have marked "Not interested" is ruining my homepage and therefore my Spotify experience.

I just rate them 1 star and they disappear after a while. It's annoying but I guess the only solution to ads for crappy commercial podcasts contaminating my feed

Currently the only options under the three dots are "follow, rate show and share." There's no option to not show the podcast or artist.

Not able to block podcasts is of great concern to parents. I have recently blocked my 12yr old accesses to Spotify because he was listening to rubbish content I could not block.

Felt I had to do something.
Spotify seems to be morphing into a podcast app and I already have one.

It doesn't make any sense this is not a function.
I listen to some podcasts and found out that I don't really like them, but they keep appearing in my queue. Which is annoying especially if you are in the car driving.
The option to mark them as 1 star does not make any sense, why are we penalising a show that we simple don't have interest, is not their fault.
Please make it possible to simple disregard authors or shows and/or could be also good to completely block some of them, I can see this last option to be beneficial to family accounts that have minors.

It is incredible the lack of quality of life improvements, some I would consider basic stuff, like this one being discussed.

I just don't want to see Joe Rogan's face on my phone at all anywhere. I do not listen, don't mind if anyone does. There's just no reason for me to see that.

Also, at this point, you cannot rate the podcast until you've listened to an episode or two. So I would like a way to discourage or remove certain podcasts from my home screen or search results completely.

It is extremely annoying that I cannot block certain podcasts from playing. There are podcasts that I have listened to once and did not like that keep automatically playing while I am driving and it is irritating that I cannot mark as not interested.

We all know this is a low-effort feature that could be done in a single sprint.
I don’t want fascist podcasts pushed to my app front end.
I already stopped paying full price for your app.
Will leave if it isn’t fixed. There are other choices.

Just an FYI, the app doesn’t allow you to rate a podcast you haven’t played. Which, if I play an episode of a fascist’s podcast sets up a horrible feedback loop of recommending more fascist-themed podcasts to my UI.

spotify paying fascists and encouraging more fascist content by preventing users from choosing to avoid the content altogether.

Given the nature of how social media algorithms work, being unable to mark a podcast as unwanted (aka blocking it) without first viewing some of its content (because its currently impossible to block a podcast, only rate it) is a recipe for seeing MORE of the content you're trying to block! The way this system is setup defeats the purpose of BLOCKING the content! This will only AMPLIFY it.

If I've learned about a content creator through other means and already know I will not like them, I shouldn't have to view their stuff before being allowed the privilege of ignoring them. I'm also aware that other people will like their content, so I shouldn't have to influence their ability to find the content they want to find. This is the entire premise behind blocking.

Spotify makes a big mess with podcasts and music. If you are a social media platform, you need to give users the power to avoid seeing certain content.

Very annoying that you can't hide, remove or block podcasts. I'm already paying for your service so please don't force your preferred, add-filled podcasts down my throat. These new features and revenue stream ideas are being pushed to a point that I'm starting to consider cancelling my subscription after 8 years of premium membership. Just please let me choose what I see and listen!

I love the Daily podcast but after it finishes, it always plays "Am I the **bleep**" and I care not for hearing that garbage. It's infuriating in the car to have to try and switch podcasts.
