AI DJ, how to make it avoid Genre's?

I started using the AI DJ function as I like that it suggests new music, and shuffles the things I like already. The one thing that I find hugely annoying though is that it keeps wanting to play a genre that I don't like at all. I've searched for the genre, I've hidden songs from big artists, I've even said that it should remove these from my taste profile. But it keeps wanting to play that Genre just because its from my home country. Is there no way to exclude them?

My Question or Issue

I tried out the new DJ AI-ENABLED feature today to only have it play an artist on my do not play list within 2 hours. Is there a way to aid the learning of the AI directly to avoid this again?

When using Spotify DJ, it played "Foundations of Rock", the third song on the set was Walk by Panterra, who I had already marked as "Don't play songs from this artist".

Agree. It's not very good AI if it can't even learn what you dont like. Am getting really frustrated with it trying to play SA music every second playlist just because I am from SA. I don't want to listen to it. Get it to stop

Tried DJ this week, and it keeps playing Country Music, which I do not like and always skip or dislike. But I don't want to be reaching for my phone every few minutes, I don;t want my music to be a mouth to feed.

The concept of waiting and slowly teaching my profile / AI what I like is tiresome.

We all definitely know that Spotify's algorithm is capable of excluding genres or we'd have Christmas music all year round. I just wish they would give us proper control of that algorithm.

I know about the exclude from my taste, but that doesn't work either. Way back I tried making a playlist of stuff I didn't like, specifically to exclude it, but it turns out that making a playlist is considered by the algorithm to be a "like". (That wasn't country music, so not a factor in the recent experience).

DJ X should NOT play hidden or blocked content.

I was appalled at how the AI DJ X feature simply ignores my content preferences and plays content that I have either blocked off or hidden from my overall interface. I do not nor will I ever plan to stream the stolen versions of Taylor Swift’s music, and I have done my part in hiding this from my experience. Now, if only DJ X can do the same, but at this point, it feels like it’s asking too much to recognize the own perimeters set by its developers.

Yes, Spotify need to look in to this. I love the AI DJ, however i dont want it to play certain types of songs. e.g. all the kids songs that my son demands me to put on to keep him entertained! these clearly arent for me.

Whenever it tries to introduce new music, its just kids songs! would be great to be able to either tell the AI not to play these types of songs, or a way to block certain genres from being included in suggested/recomended songs.

The Spotify DJ thinks I like rap, and keeps trying to play it. How to stop?

I'm not quite sure how the DJ thinks that I like rap artists like Eminem, Lil Wayne, or Playboi Carti; I have never listened to any of them, and yet it keeps trying to play me rap music. Is there any way to remove music taste from consideration in Spotify, particularly for the DJ which I quite like to use when I don't want to listen to anything in particular.

I'd like to know this, too. I don't listen to the rap genre, but have an artist I listen to that crosses into that genre (although I don't listen to those songs in particular.)

DJ keeps playing genres that I've never shown interest in. Like 80s or 90s songs or Latin hits and reggae. I constantly skip the songs but they keep playing to the point where I'm constantly skipping through genres or whatever he recommends. Is there any way to like customize or edit the recommendations? Its getting really annoying.

Same. Everyday starting around 1-1:30pm it will continuously go between LatinX playlist, Latino hits, Karido (sp? That’s how the DJ says it then plays music in Spanish), 70s, 80s, and reggae. I skip the category every time but it still continues every day. I’ve gotten to where I just don’t even use the dj anymore after lunch.

Recently, I've noticed Spotify DJ is playing random genres or songs that I don't listen to, like country or pop music. There's also no option to dislike a song, only skip to the next one. How can I resolve this issue?

Same problem here - why can't you simply delete that genre. i am going to have to change to apple music if this keeps up

My Question or Issue

I tend to use DJ quite often but recently the use of top songs on Spotify or songs with the focus being popular with others and not my normal curated picks has left me dumbfounded. The songs I see given to me during my time using DJ has been flat out baffling. For some context I tend to stay near the same genres as Underground, Webcore, Shoegaze and Metal. But find DJ giving me songs from Mexico like Ranchera, or just plain Latin music in general. I also have noticed a uptick in what it calls currently top songs on Spotify which include the most out of touch for my algorithm mainstream songs to include things like Taylor Swift and more. Would it be possible at this moment in time to disable the music recommendations on DJ that tend to lean more into the what others enjoy rather then recommending what I may enjoy? I have a growing suspension that this DJ may be ad driven based on if the artist paid to be on the discovery incentive or not.
