How can I play same music on multiple speakers?

Hi! I have a few HomePods and Amazon Echo's in the apartment. I want to play at the same time the same song on all speakers. How can I reach this?

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out. You can only play on one device at a time with a single account. Starting the playback on one device will stop the playback on another. Check out this idea regarding simultaneous playback.

I have speakers in my kitchen/lounge/dining rooms, bedroom and bathroom i want to play spotify on at the same time, so it's in all rooms. is this not possible? all other music platforms allow this (apple music, etc.).

Hey folks,

Apologies for the confusion.

With smart speakers it's possible to play on all of them at once provided that they can be combined into groups. We'd suggest reaching out to your device manufacturer's support to find out how and if this is possible.

Once you've set up a group, you can select it in the list of devices in your Now Playing View.

Keep in mind Spotify does not support streaming from more than one device / device group at the same time.

I think you should make it so I can listen on my Xbox and my phone to connect the 2 I like listening to music in my headphones and my speaker it’s not that hard please fix it

Spotify doesn't allow this because two people could be using those devices simultaneously. So it's like two people on the same account, which they lose money on and goes against licensing agreements.

Listening on multiple speakers to one stream in the same house doesnt seem like two people on the same account from my perspective. My wife frequently sits in the room listening to our Spotify together playing thru two passive speakers. Wanting the same stream to play into the next room as I walk in doesnt change that....would be great if it could be done in mixed environment - similar to Sonos setups. Hope that makes sense.

The idea is simple, but the execution is likely complicated. I say this because you would quickly be met with audio that's out of sync if they're going through non-connected devices. Devices within the same vendor have solved this with their "grouping". As soon as you had a couple of devices across different vendors trying to play at the same time you would likely have synchronization issues, and people would quickly complain about fixing it as it would drive them nuts.

For example, it's already been complicated enough through the years to get multiple bluetooth speakers [connected to a Macbook] to play in sync and not drive you nuts, and there's even "clock sync" features that are supposed to solve this, but then there's a multitude of other issues that come up with wireless audio processing over bluetooth and different devices.

Let's be honest though. I'm here from a Google search and would love this feature as well.

This can be done, sort of, and only within the Apple ecosystem or using compatible AirPlay devices.

You can stream Spotify on your iOS device (iPhone, iPad, iMac, MacBook, etc) and then select AirPlay devices to send the music too. You can have as many AirPlay devices as you want around the house and can stream the music to whichever you like and adjust to volume to different settings. But all your speakers much have an AirPlay 2 compatible device connected to them, or be AirPlay 2 compatible themselves. This can be done with Apple AirPort Express Gen 2 units, home theater receivers that have built-in AirPlay 2, or AirPlay 2 compatible devices like WiiM Mini or Pro (and theres a few more out there). Spotify doesn't advertise this because they don't want you doing it, but since they can't control what Apple allows you do, they can't do anything about it. Hope that helps!

Why don’t you use the solution from Swedish company Sound Dimension? With their solution you can play your music on your friends phones, bluetooth speakers and other devices.
I think their solution is great, to bad it isn’t integrated in Spotify though.

It is absolutely criminal that Spotify hasn't addressed this very simple and longstanding request. It's almost as if you refuse to accept how people actually use your service. It's a no-brainer fix technologically, but in my five years as a premium subscriber I've seen zero improvements to user experience.

Hate to be so negative, you are still the best streaming option out there, but the reasoning behind not fixing this have been nothing short of lame. I shouldn't have to replace legacy gear just to use your service... and I shouldn't have to choose which room to stream to when I want to stream through the whole house.

I unfortunately have Google home products with Google Assistant **bleep**

Right now I have Spotify playing on the bedroom display and went to my Roku and opened Spotify it asked "Play om TV" I selected it as always, it was playing the same playlist, song at the same time but not in sync.

Normally you asked the Google Assistant to "open Spotify" it NOW only will start playing the last playlist, not open to select.

Now if I ask if to turn up the music it sap "Here's Spotify, then says it's not able to at this time, but starts playing what's playing on the TV.

It's NOT Spotify ❗❗

Feature request: connect one account to multiple speakers

I’d like to suggest a feature that I believe would significantly improve the listening experience for many users.

It would be great to be able to connect a single Spotify account to two or more speakers at the same time. This would allow playback on multiple speakers simultaneously (for example in different rooms), without needing multiple accounts or workarounds.

This feature would be especially useful for:

Home listening across multiple rooms

Small gatherings or parties

Users who own several Bluetooth or smart speakers but use only one account

To avoid abuse, this could work with reasonable limitations, such as:

Speakers connected on the same Wi-Fi network

A limited number of speakers (e.g. 2–3)

Playback of the same track/playlist on all speakers

I believe this would add real value to Spotify Connect and make Spotify even more competitive as a home audio platform.

Can I listen to the same music or podcast on different tvs or alexas at the same time with one account? I just want the same music to play at multiple sites in my house not different music or podcasts. This allows you to hear content as you walk from one place to another in your home.
