Issues with the new Apple TV app

Apple TV 4K 3rd Gen

My Question or Issue

The new app is great but there are some issues with it.

1) Playlists only show about 30 songs then just stop. They do play all the songs but don't display most of them.

2) Artist pages are practically useless, only showing the top 10 songs and that's it. There is not an option to access albums or the discography.

P.S. I have already attempted troubleshooting and it did not work. I'm pretty sure it's an app problem and not something that only happens to me.

So you replaced an app that worked just fine with an app that only plays a fraction of the songs on any given play list? That was a bold move. And prior to release no one actually checked to see if it could play more than a fraction of songs on a play list.

Came here to also find out what’s going on. Apple TV app is now completely useless. Not a work in progress, but a ruined app. It used to work just fine but this new update has made it absolutely impossible to actually use. Funny that, I use Spotify purely because the Apple Music apps are so unintuitive, but some how Spotify managed to make theirs worse. I guess Apple Music is gonna get some new subscribers soon.

**bleep** it's like Apple told Spotify to reduce their features so more people to go Apple Music. The "new" app is utter trash. You removed the ability to like, add to playlist and limit the amount shown in a playlist, are yall on fent?

This really is such a stupid update. The old app was fully functional and very useful, did what you wanted, needed and allowed you to fully control your music from the tv.

It’s almost like they want to force you to use the phone app to control your TV- no thanks, don’t dictate how I use my technology, I pay for access to the music, not to be forced to use one device. I wonder if this is intentional….. hmmmmm.

I'm sorry to say this, but your Apple TV app is literally garbage and unusable in its current state.

You have released a new app version with features that are “nice to have” and omitted the features that users need and that were available and worked in the previous version, such as searching for albums by artists, displaying more than 30 songs in playlists, etc.

I'm cancelling my Spotify because of this. When they update the app to sort out the usability and reinstate functionality I'll consider joining again but currently the app is useless. It's the only way I listen to music through my TV attached to some nice speakers, so seeing as I can't do that - goodbye.

How can you call a feature removal a work in progress? Browsing an artist's discography from their page is a minimum basic feature. How amazingly stupid to remove this....I won't even call it a feature. That would be like calling a light switch a feature for a light. To think you pay people to make your app worse is mind blowing.

I am running into the same problem. I choose an artist, or a playlist, and the wheel keeps spinning forever on some artists and playlists while others work just fine. Little workaround I found on the problematic lists: just wait a few seconds (let it spin), then cancel (click the menu button on the remote) and then select the artist or playlist again. Then it loads, and you can play the music. If it doesn't: repeat and let it spin a bit longer... For what it's worth....

How did they not catch this in QA testing? Please fix.

Also, to get to this page in order to comment I had to login with my user/pass, MFA via email, do a CAPTCHA, create a username (?), got

37FF74E2 exception code, and had to start over.

What a joke, get it together folks! These software QA issues across the board are nothing to be proud of. Oh, and I’ll have to do another CAPTCHA to post this….

Since recent app update on Apple TV the liked songs list doesnt scroll any further down. Songs also are in random order as on the same account on iPhone of iPad? Antoine had the same issue? Already logged off and on, also deleted and installed the app again!

Spotify should address these issues ASAP. It’s beyond being an annoyance…… It has become a liability for Spotify’s performance. Long time users like myself are asking that formatting return to the previous version.
