Cleaning my listening history?

My android phone automatically connected to someone's smart speaker or TV or something and they went on to a few hours of listening before I noticed and disconnected from that device. Now two weeks later my "what's new" and "recently played" views keep showing me latin american artists that I never listened too myself.

I blocked those artists, but they keep showing. What's the best way to clean my history for that day (or just wipe the last month) or really block those artists so they don't show up in my feeds anymore?

Thank you for reaching out here in the Community.

We'd like to add some insights. Take into account that the Listening history consists of the songs that have been listened to on your account and, unfortunately, it's currently not possible to remove or delete items from this section.

In that sense, we'd suggest that you try to discover new music: you can actively explore new music by using Search and choose a category where you'll find a lot of playlists made by Spotify, which you might like. Keep in mind that, if most of the music you listen to comes from your personalized playlists (like Discover Weekly, Daily Mix) the new suggested content won't update as often. Keep using the Do not play this feature on any artist profiles you wouldn't like to see recommended to you.

While there's currently no way to manually delete songs from Recently played history - we'd recommend you leave your vote for this idea here if this is something you'd like to see implemented in the future. The more votes an idea gets, the more likely it is to get implemented. If you're interested in how ideas work and how your feedback reaches the right teams here, check this page out.

Lastly, since you mentioned the playback was coming from a device you did not recognize, we'd suggest you follow the steps of this article to secure your account. Make sure to remove any third-party apps with access to your Spotify as they may have become compromised. You can grant access to them again if you want.

Thank you for this information. I am keeping my fingers crossed that the proposal for editing the listening history will make it through at some point.

I don't have any 3rd party apps. Could it be because we are multiple apartments sharing the same internet connections and that there are smart speakers or TVs with the spotify app on the local network?

Sharing the same internet connection and having multiple devices on the local network with other people living nearby can absolutely be the reason why your phone automatically connects to another device.

With Spotify Connect you can use one device to remotely control listening on another and they need to be on the same network.

Great job for already checking that you don't have any 3rd party apps and if you've already followed the steps to secure your account as suggested by @AlejaR in this response, you can tap on the unknown device that your phone connects to, click on "Forget this device", log out everywhere and check if the device will appear afterwards.

Keep in mind that if you’ve ever used Spotify on a shared network, you may see other devices in the picker that were connected to that network too. You can have only local devices shown by heading to the Spotify App on your mobile device > open Settings > Devices > Show Local Devices.

Ktoś 3 stycznia 2025 roku wkradł się na moje konto i z tego dnia jest odsłuchanych oraz polubionych bardzo dużo utworów Indyjskich wykonawców. Czy można to jakoś usunąć żeby Spotify nie wyświetlał mi dziwnym playlist oraz nie dodawał tych utworów np. Do Blend z znajomymi? Jest to na prawdę bardzo męczące

I agree that this would be a good feature to add. While playing spotify on my TV, sometimes other people in my home will play a song and use my profile instead of their by accident. I don't have a way to remove the recently played, so now it keeps recommending for me to Jump Back In to a playlist I don't like. This is a terrible unintended consequence. PLEASE FIX!!!

Seriously. This feature needs to be enabled. My kids discovered that they can ask our sonos speaker to play fart sounds. Yeah, now my feed is suggesting playlists of farts. @spotify enable remove from history option. Nothing like working out and listening to my jams and "pldtdttdtdtddoooot!" starts playing.

This is crazy and unacceptable! My device didn’t understand the name of the band I was asking it to play and started play a rap artist with really offensive lyrics. Now it is suggesting that artist everyday with the album cover which amazingly is almost more offensive than the song!
Spotify better figure this out or I will cancel my family plan. It is just NOT acceptable that my kids can see this content that was accidentally played. One would almost think it would be some sort of violation for Spotify to play a song with offensive content without consent!?!

Please just let me clear my listening history. I played a friend's playlist for one evening, and now I'm doomed to look at that dumb thumbnail on my home page forever?
Alternatively, let me customize the homepage to remove the content I don't want to see. I don't care about the podcasts, videos, books or whatever. Even a simple "Hide this" would do.

I, like many others here, enjoy using our smart TVs with Spotify, and I want more privacy when I have family or friends over, rather than having all my recently played songs and playlists displayed for everyone to see; I also have children who enjoy playing music from my account on our television. Spotify, please engage with your subscribers, resolve this issue, and provide a way to delete content we no longer want attached to our profile. I am at the point with Spotify's lack of a solution that I'm willing to cancel my subscription and move on to one that better accommodates me.

Seriously...you [removed] need to add functionality to delete these recently played lists, song, tracks, or whatever.

My daughter has big **bleep** [removed], [removed] [removed],(their actually labeling) and other explicit content as it's artwork! I see you all are absolutely incapable of quality checks and just let users run free. Started to think Spotify was great, until this. Going back to the horrible Amazon music, at least my kids don't get **bleep** on their playlist while trying to listen to music!
