Particular podcast not playing across devices

HI there,
A few days ago, out of the blue, I had some playback issues on a regularly listened to podcast - I was unable to play it on my phone (Pixel 6). The issue persisted, so I tried the common solutions - uninstalling/reinstalling, restarting. This did not fix the issue.

I tried accessing via web player on my laptop (chromebook), by desktop app (windows 10) and installing the app on the chromebook, but in each case, I was still unable to get the podcast to play.

This issue is only with one podcast, but all episodes of that podcast are now unplayable (including ones I've previously listened to without issue). The web version will attempt to play for a while (with the progress bar remaining at 0:00) before telling me there is an issue playing and skipping to the next episode in my episodes.

This problem is incredibly frustrating, having seemingly come out of the blue! Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for reaching out to the Community and welcome.

This type of issue with podcast playback is commonly related to the permissions and restrictions of the network signal. So in this case, we'd first recommend trying with a different Wi-Fi network to see if it makes any difference. If you don't have another one available, you can use a mobile data hotspot to test it on.

Also, we understand you’ve already tried some troubleshooting steps including reinstalling, but to be sure that we're on the same page - did you use the steps for a clean reinstall mentioned in this article on your devices?

Lastly, and if the issue persists, include in your next response the link/URI of the affected podcast, along with the Spotify version you're currently running to continue investigating the case.

We'll be on the lookout.

Only one podcast will not play on google pixel 8a with wired headphones.

Breaking Points with Krystal & Saagar will not play on Pixel 8a with wired headphones. All other podcasts and music will play. I tried another Spotify account and it still will not play. The podcast will play in vehicle using Android Auto.

a podcast i listen to regularly and had downloaded many episodes of suddenly wont play on any of my devices. when i try to listen on my phone it doesnt play at all, and on a chrome tab it says "sorry spotify cant play this right now" and starts playing a different podcast instead. I have tried changing my wifi and logging in and out again but neither have worked.

I'm trying to listen to "The Crochet Baes" podcast but none of the episodes are playing https://open.spotify.com/show/79c5l18L7ucO5jUBdnJhpp?si=4b450f034c604215 I've tried web based & Android app which are on two different internet providers. I can play music & other podcasts but this one won't play. None of the episodes on this podcast will play. I cannot find any contact for support.

Does this behavior persist only with this particular podcast and can you let us know if you see any error messages?

If the episodes are greyed out for example, this may indicate that the podcast is currently unavailable and if you're using a VPN, check if disabling it will make a difference. We strongly advise against using VPNs as they can cause different issues and confusion with Spotify.

We're here if you need assistance with anything else in the meantime.

Podcasts not playing on mobile app

Still having issues downloading and playing certain podcasts (Tim Dillon Show, Tom Woods Show) my issue was not resolved in the recent post saying that a new update would fix it (on 6/2/2025 I believe). I'm running Spotify version 9.0.50.416 on a Pixel 7. Any help would be great.

I'm currently undergoing a similar issue where my two most listened to podcasts ("Rslash" and "Am I the **bleep**") haven't been playing for days, going on weeks now. Any advice?

I am currently having this issue with Getting Better with JVN. I followed the recommended actions twice and that didn’t fix the issue. When people pay for a service, this shouldn’t happen. Maybe it really is time to cancel and head to Apple Music.

Can you confirm if this happens across all the devices you use or is it just on a specific one? What about the Web Player? @rachelberry mentioned this only happening when connected to WiFi, so it's worth checking your router's settings to make sure the app's not blocked by your network firewall. It's also a good idea to check with a different WiFi or mobile data/hotspot to see if it might be a general connectivity issue or if it's only connected to your private network.

I'm having this issue with my ps5. I used to listen to Jim Cornette Experience and Drive Thru on my ps4 just fine and now I use spotify on my ps5 and it won't play.

This is an example of what happens to mine. The only difference is that mine doesn't switch to anything. It just doesn't play altogether. I've looked throughout the post and I've done everything suggested. Every other podcast I listen to works. It only happens with my Ps5. I was able to listen to any podcast just fine on a Ps4 and it's never worked on my Ps5.

Thanks for the video you kindly attached here.

We'd suggest you make sure your console is up-to-date. Just to confirm, does this happen when connecting the PS5 to a different internet network? It'd be awesome if you could check. You can create a hotspot with a phone to connect the console and check.

On another note, does this happen with all the episodes of the aforementioned shows? Or does it happen with specific ones? If yes, it'd be awesome if you could share the links to them with us.

This only happens with these podcasts. It happens to every episode. If I'm playing spotify on my ps5 and try to listen to it, spotify either freezes or just won't play it.

Are you starting the episodes from the podcast page, the Your Episodes/New Episodes playlist or from a user-generated playlist? Does it work if you play the episode on another device (e.g. your phone) and transfer the stream to the PS5 with the Spotify Connect option?

Also, have you tried a different account or connecting the PS5 to a hotspot on your phone?

I'm starting the episodes from the podcast page and I've tried switching the hotspot and I've tried every other solution suggested on this thread. It doesn't work when I try to play it directly on the spotify app on my Playstation, nor does it work when I try to play it from my phone to the Playstation. I pay for premium just like everyone else in this thread and it seems like after years, this problem is still here.
