My Question or Issue

Hi! I'm not sure if this question belongs in this category, so I apologise if it doesn't. I'm experiencing an issue with my recent search history on Spotify.

I use Spotify on both my laptop and phone throughout the day, often switching between the two devices. Previously, each device maintained a separate search history, which I really appreciated. For example, my phone’s history included song X, playlist Y, and album Z, while my laptop had playlist A, album B, and song C. I loved how they were distinct, particularly because my laptop's history contained a long list and some old searches.

However, a few weeks ago, I'd say about a month now, that changed. My search histories on both devices suddenly synced, and my laptop history was replaced with the history from my phone. I lost all of the hard-won and fought searches I had on my laptop, which is quite disappointing. A shame.

With that in mind, I would like to ask if anyone knows whether Spotify has made any recent changes regarding search history, or if this is an issue specific to my account. Has something changed on their end? Is there a fix for this problem? If not, is there a way to suggest implementing an option to disable the sync between devices’ search histories? I really enjoyed how separate they were.

I hope someone has answers or solutions to this issue. Either way, I appreciate your help. Thank you! 🙂

Thanks for bringing your feedback to the Spotify Community. Spotify is constantly testing new features and improvements for the app. In this case, if you would like an option to turn off synced recent activity across your devices, I'd recommend posting an idea in our Community Ideas Exchange. I'm seconding this. It was better for me when the search histories didn't sync. On my desktop app I search for new music while researching bands. On the phone I use the search history as a temp library to find regularly played music that I haven't saved yet.
