Podcast video works on phone app but not on TV app, only audio

My Question or Issue

On my phone videos for podcasts play fine. If I open them on the Spotify app on my tv it is just a color screen and the audio. This is a fairly new predicament as video podcasts have worked for the past year I've had this tv. I unplugged and plugged it back in, I've updated the tv, not sure why it's still doing this. Especially because when I hit play on this tv I can see the video for a quick second before it reverts back to a gradient color screen.

Thanks for reaching out!

If possible, we'd first suggest reinstalling the Spotify app on your TV, or removing and re-adding it to see if that makes any difference.

It's also important to make sure that your TV's software is fully updated to its most recent version, as an outdated device could experience issues with some apps.

I can not delete and reinstall the app on my Xumo tv. After I started experiencing this I downloaded the newest update for my TV. Still happening even after that. I then did a factory reset of my tv. Still a problem.

Thanks for getting back to us with this info.

Would you mind asking a friend or a relative to log into their account on your TV to see if the same thing happens? Alternatively, if you have a different TV in which you could log in, you could also check if you can replicate the behavior. This will help us see if the issue is account or device related.

You could also give it a try using a different network and let us know if you notice any difference.

I made a new account with a different email and logged into it on my tv, it's the same thing. If I'm playing the podcast on my phone then get on Spotify app on my tv and click the "play on this tv" button for a second or two the video comes back before reverting back to the solid color screen. We have a different tv in the living room and I can cast Spotify to that and video podcasts work just fine. Its only this tv.

Thank you for the info. Yes, I will continually look for updates to this issue as it seems to have been going on for multiple weeks from the thread you mentioned. For now I will watch this podcast on YouTube instead until this error is fixed.

Just wanted to hop on here and say that I did nothing but video podcasts on Spotify are working again now so I have video! I'm not sure how it got fixed but thanks!
