In some instances, the "music video version" of a song is an entirely different audio track, and has replaced the original.

An example is "Theworstthing" by Parcels. The actual song is 3:03. The music video version is 3:31 and features a clip of a completely different song in the additional runtime. The original track is now NOT AVAILABLE. So when I listen to this album, I DON'T HEAR THE ALBUM!

I am happy to have optional videos that collapse as long as the actual tracks are preserved, but this is madness.

It appears this can be manually toggled in the app, but I was working on desktop, where it does not appear the feature is available.

I honestly thought I went schizophrenic. Most of my liked songs have really weird interludes in the video versions.
Thank you for letting me know that I didn't go insane 😄
If you find a way to go back to the non video version on the desktop version please let me know.
Otherwise if it's not currently possible, Spotify let us do it, I beg you

Hi @lets_play_two and @kastor911,

Thanks for reaching out!

We wanted to shed some light on how music videos work on Spotify, since there seems to be some confusion if we understood you correctly, feel free to jump in and elaborate a bit more if we didn't so we can check further. When a video is available for a song, there's always an audio version as well and you can switch between them whenever you want, here's how:

Start a song, open the Now Playing view and click on Switch to video. You can switch your view to landscape for a full screen video.

Click Switch to audio to go back to the audio view.
Note: When switching to or from audio or video, you’ll continue listening from the closest matching timestamp.

Also, keep in mind that if you've switched to the video version, it's possible that all other songs that you play afterwards will start in that same version, so if you want to avoid that, just click on Switch to audio once you're done watching a video. There's also currently not a setting to disable them as a whole, so if that's what you were looking for, you can vote for this Idea on the topic to show your support.

Here's how it looks like with the song @lets_play_two mentioned:

Switch to video

Switch to audio

Let us know if this helps or if you meant something else.

The difficulty is that the toggle only works once the track is playing. I listen to many albums that have gapless track transitions, and swapping in the video version of the track breaks the transition. An example is on the Genesis album "Duke", where the track "Behind the Lines" is supposed to flow into "Duchess", but since the later is the video version of the audio, its portion of the transition isn't there, creating an annoying discontinuity. Please make it possible to prevent this.

This may be the reason I switch away from Spotify. This is ridiculous. I want the album version not the video version.
