Allow us to disable car mode unless we choose to turn it back on

I have to shut off car mode while I am driving because the interface is not set up in a way that I am use to intuitively navigating through Spotify thereby making it more dangerous to use. It turns on automatically without giving us a choice to disable it. I find it very distracting, inconvenient and unsafe. No version of “New Car Mode” can remedy this. I would prefer to the choice whether or not to use it BEFORE I start driving.

Note that you should be able to disable Car mode permanently by following these steps:

Tap Home.
Tap Settings.
Under Car mode, switch Start car mode automatically off.

This doesn't work. Car mode is always forced on my Toyota Camry. I want to completely disable it. The start car mode automatically option is not there.

Thanks for reaching out to the Community!

You mentioned that the option itself doesn't appear in your settings right? Can you check to see if the same will happen on another device? You can ask a friend or family member to try on their phone. We would suggest clearing your cached files, logging out and in twice in a row. That way you'll force a sync between your app and the main servers which should cause the setting to re-appear.

I too would like to know how to keep car mode from turning on. There is NO "Car Mode" option anywhere in my settings. Sometimes the car mode carries over to when I'm not in my vehicle and the inability to listen to the previous track or skip ahead or back 15 seconds is NEEDED whether driving or not!

This would be great advice if the options were actually there to disable the car mode. It's really anoying and I'd like to disable it on my Android phone too.

I started using other music streaming apps because they don't force car mode. Amazon Music is a great option and it's already included in my Prime membership.

What is the current way to turn off Car Mode. It's moved and not here anymore. I've tried everything to turn it off. It is so dangerous.

So... developers saw a bunch of us requesting to disable car mode, and they just made that not an option??? Now if I am a passenger or sitting in my car while charging I am forced to use car mode. Utterly ridiculous.

In honestly, at this point car mode need to be removed until Spotify asks us "would you like to enable car mode for this device" because now it thinks my Bluetooth speaker is a car. Not even in my Bluetooth settings indicate it's a car so why does Spotify think so?
