I was looking for a bit of Glam Rock to liven up my tuesday night and ran into a problem with Slade.

The Slade page in the spotify client is wrong, The text intro starts of right with "Slade are an English glam rock and hard rock band". But the music is all wrong.

Not sure what the music is but it sounds black and modern. Tried searching for a few Slade hits but no success.

Hello,

The most likely reason for this is that artists that share a similar name can often get placed under the same entry on Spotify. For example, sometimes I want to listen to Japanese post-rock band Envy. However, there's also a female rapper called Envy too. We are aware of these issues and we're asking for assistance in people finding some of these artists - see this page for more.

Exactly the same problem !!!....It,s hard to believe, one of the biggest ever British bands....with sales of over 50 million albums worldwide, are not to be found on Spotify. I hope somebodty rectify,s this oversight pretty soon.....and that the client page is sorted asap.

Exactly the same issue here - Merry Christmas by Slade feat. Kr shows up, but no trace of 'So Here It Is' by Slade!

Maybe no harder to believe than the fact that the biggest and best selling ever British band is also not available on Spotify?

I guess it's just a matter of time in both cases though. As with Pink Floyd, Peter Gabriel, Led Zeppelin, King Crimson, Metallica, AC/DC, The Move and virtually the entire Apple catalogue.

Not sure why Spotify don't have Slade, Napster does, same with Pink Floyd, so it's not as if the bands are against streaming, could be more to do with adverts?

Deezer is the same. I was assuming it was just because they had somesort of limited British artists. But Spotify too - very disappointed. I've got Deezer with Orange, but was going to bite the bullet and pay for Spotify. But if they haven't got what I want, I don't think I'll bother. Think I'll try Napster then.

I downloaded Spotify app to my phone and first thing I searched was Slade. Found nothing. What the f..?. I guess Slade wasn't so popular in Sweden? Uninstalling...

Checking in at the end of 2015...still no Slade. Tried looking for "Everyday" and nothing came up. I really wish someone would tell us if it's a licensing issue or what's actually going on here.

Well I don't think it is a mistake as such.And I don't think it's anything to do with Slade being confused with any other artist. A while ago I met a relative of Jim Lea the bassist and main co songwriter of all the Slade material. According to this gent Jim is very much his own man regarding things like Spotify and he don't like something then he ain't doing it. And he don't care who else is doing it. So my guess is that Jim is the man who needs to be convinced. There are two other huge acts holding out against Spotify ie The Beatles and Def Leppard. I would love to hear Slade on Spotify but until the song copyright holders and other involved parties are persuaded it ain't going to happen.

Well it still isn't going to happen until the copyright holders and the publishers can agree terms with Spotify. It seems crazy that the Beatles are now on Spotify yet Slade and Def Leppard are still holding out. The only other big artist is Adele who thinks she should be paid more and is of the rather old fashioned opinion that Spotify will harm her physical format sales. There's a possibility it could change though. Slade are rereleasing their first four albums on audiophile vinyl and this is of course indicative of renewed interest in their music. It's also a possibility there's some sort of remastering/restoration process going on with all their officially released material. So Spotify may still happen but IMHO Mr Lea is the man who needs to be convinced.

Hate to say it but Slade isn't the only grup that's missing....no early Def Leppard albums, Peter Gabriel, Bob Seger, sad not to see Neil Young's best stuff missing..and of course Prince..some of Joan Jett's better stuff. Another good 80's band Icehouse is also missing from here.

Also, did you ever create a playlist and have a song on it and the next day it's missing, Spotify will be crap until they rectify this! It's a shame that a lot of good music is missing!

Spotify, get your act together and let's get these artists on here.

Searched for Slade again today and found that '**bleep** On Feel the Noize' has been added! Hopefully they will start adding more songs in the near future 🙂

There's also a song from Slade the rapper under the wrong Slade artist. Sweet is also listed as 'Related artist' to Slade the rapper, seems like there's some confusion with artists who share the same name.

Regarding Adele she has åut her last two albums on Spotify, only not until after a while. This may actually have been a stroke of genius and I have respect for that regarding newly released albums

Still no Slade, not sure it's Jim Lea's fault though coz his solo stuff is on spotify.
