Hi there @ReneeLBrown,

Welcome to the Community!

This is most likely happening, because those songs have been previously removed from the platform. This can sometimes happen due to licensing issues or label requests.

Usually most content does make its way back on the platform, but they get uploaded with new metadata, so the app treats those tracks as different songs. This is why the old version appear grayed out and unplayable, but you can search for and play the 'same' song.

There is no automatic way to replace those songs. You'd need to manually remove them and re-add them to the playlists.

I checked the playlists, and some of these albums are not available in all countries, so most likely they were taken down at some point, as I explained above.

Hope this info helps.

I have 2 old playlists with a large number of songs that are grayed out. I thought this might be due to the songs no longer being available, but when I search for them I can still play them and add them to other playlists. I have tried logging out of all my Spotify instances and uninstall/reinstalling the app and it does nothing. The songs are grayed out on my windows PC, my macbook, the web player, and if I look at my playlists through my husband's account. Is there a way to fix this without deleting/re-adding all the songs again?

This one has 222 songs that are "unavailable":
https://open.spotify.com/playlist/6Vz0UpiviyuijNw2jV94ys?si=fffd7b2d09174ce9

https://open.spotify.com/playlist/0bC2MUWxepAElI9q9W6yEP?si=af9ed88b616d4059
