Why are random songs playing while I'm listening to my playlist/podcasts.

When I listen to my playlist and podcasts, spotify starts playing random songs that I don't know at any point during a song or podcast. It is happening more and more frequently. It says 'listening on Ki's phone' . I don't know who this is. I have tried to keep everything private and stop playback, unfollow people etc. How do I stop it from happening.

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.

This is a very odd behavior indeed. In this case, we suggest you follow the steps you can find here to protect your account.

We additionally recommend to make sure Log in to your account page, scroll down, and select SIGN OUT EVERYWHERE. This way you’ll sign out from every device in which your account is open.

We recommend checking for anything suspicious on your Account Overview page and removing all apps connected to your account. You can easily reconnect the apps that you use whenever you want. If you notice anything suspicious you can remove it with the REMOVE ACCESS button.

I had same issue but only log in on my phone app. Did everything suggested hopes it stops happening or I’ll have to cancel my subscription because I’m not paying for music not on my playlists to pop up.

I’m having this same issue and tried those things and it didn’t help. Now while I’m listening to a podcast, it will either randomly play a random song that’s not even on any of my playlists (or even by an artist I know) or it will skip to the next episode of the podcast I’m listening to.

I use the Android app (v.9.0.2.459) to listen to downloaded PODCASTS while at work where there's limited data access. Suddenly it's playing only one episode from a list of 40+, then jumping to playing poorly chosen 'suggested songs', which besides annoying me is needlessly eating data. I get to the list by clicking Your Library-Podcasts-Your Episodes-Downloaded, sort by release date, then Play button in upper right corner. Autoplay is off, Connect too; I don't use the desktop app; free user account; have tried clearing cache & then tried clean install.

For the love of all things holy, can someone tell me how to stop my downloaded podcast episodes being highjacked by unwanted songs??!

I have the same problem on an iPhone. Listening to music when a suggested podcast starts playing. I've also had Spotify start playing the same podcast when I'm not even using it. Obviously a bug in Spotify and they don't seem too interested in fixing it.
