Would being a part of this program allow qualifying Spotify Star users more insight on upcoming releases and rollouts (specifically what changes and updates will be included)? This would be extremely helpful as they often serve as contact points for distributing tips and information.

Thank you, I'd checked out the list of perks (listed below), and what I wanted to know specifically is if those broad categories like "early testing opportunities" include specific details about what's being included in those rollouts and updates. I was in the extended Beta test for the new Desktop UI (not by choice), and being in that advance testing didn't give us any information about what was being changed or what to watch for and give specific feedback on.

As nice as swag can be, it's that kind of information that I would be most interested in. Is that something that's communicated about to Spotify Star participants?

Being in the program also gives Stars some cool perks, like:

Advanced forum permissions and access
Product research, feedback, and early testing opportunities
Regular calls with Spotify teams
Star-only events
Swag

Hey @lblackwelluk,

We can't give you very specific details on what exactly the research and testing opportunities include because every test and feature roll out is different and the Spotify developers need the Star's help for different parts of the process.

In general being in the program does give you an earlier and deeper insight into most of the innovations but we can't guarantee that the Stars always receive information on all changes and tests in great detail.

Would being a piece of this program permit qualifying Spotify Star clients more understanding on impending deliveries and rollouts (explicitly what changes and updates will be incorporated)? This would be amazingly useful as they frequently fill in as contact focuses for conveying tips and data.

@Akhter057 -- precisely my question. If Spotify Stars can help serve as intermediary points to disseminate that kind of information, it would really help, and at the same time help tone down some of the heated commentary regarding the lack of transparency. I do understand that there's a lot going on behind the scenes, but there must be some kind of brief bulletpoint list of items being included in a rollout that can be shared. Not necessarily the smaller nuts and bolts, but larger things to look like (case in point, when some panes were made resizable or when a fix for the bug which mucked up the right-click on current song playing to add it to a playlist).

In looking at the older page for the Rock Star program, it says that an applicant will need to make a certain amount of helpful comments and posts to be considered.

When that's updated to the Spotify Stars program, what will that amount be?

The exact quote there is "Once you’ve made enough posts in Help, Music Chat or Content Questions you’ll get a private message from us with the next steps in the application process."

My question is, now that this is known as the Spotify Stars program, what constitutes enough? What is considered a certain amount of helpful comments and posts? What's the criteria to be eligible for the program?

The landing page you linked is a bit outdated as is and will be getting an update soon.

We've changed a bit things recently on how you can apply in the program, there's a brief form you can fill in instead to let us know you're interested. The new page will include this info too once it's live 🙂 For now though, I'll share it so you can fill it in if you're interested.

Thank you, I had seen the application form before (although perhaps it was for the program under the previous Rock Star name).

What I'm asking though is about the criteria for being considered. So far, it's been a little unclear, simply that it needs to be a certain amount of helpful posts, comments, etc.

I know how many badges I have (not all that may in the big picture), and I'm trying to determine if I'm anywhere remotely close to the mark for what Spotify is looking for. I'm trying to find out what the criteria is so I can determine if it's worth pursuing.

What constitutes enough helpful contributions to be eligible?

If this is something proprietary and not being made public (like the IMDB ranking algorithm), please let me know, and that's fine.

Hey @lblackwelluk - I am a former member of the Moderator team (s/o to @Katerina and @Elena), and I helped draft the new values for the new Star Program.

To answer your question: The intention is to move away from criteria based purely on the quantity of posts you make as a Star, and instead to look at a broader set of criteria which constitute being an active member of the Program. This of course also includes whether or not the Star honours and practices the values of the Program, which are at the core of what makes a Star... a Star.

This is all still very much in progress last I heard, but in any case my suggestion to you would be: Fill out the form that Kate linked you to to show your interest and go through the onboarding process. This will be a chance for you to speak to the team and get a sense of what it'll be like, and then you can make a more informed decision.

Yet another sign Spotify cares absolutely nothing for their customers who want actual change for their streaming experience for the sake of """diversity""" and """inclusion""". What is so offensive about the word 'Rock'? It's not even gendered in English. Maybe some moron on the Spotify staff thinks Rock music is automatically 'white supremacy music' even though it has some roots in funk, jazz, and blues?
