iOS SDK error 'Linker command failed with exit code 1'

I'm creating a Swift app using the Get Started iOS SDK guide, using the AppDelegate method. However, when I try to run the app on my device, I get this error:

'.../SpotifyiOS.framework/Versions/A/SpotifyiOS': fat file missing arch 'arm64', file has 'i386,armv7,x86_64'

The documentation states that arm64 is supported for devices, so I'm confused as to why this is an issue.
