topic API: What defines a valid Spotify ID? in Spotify for Developers

I want to verify user input before executing the request and receiving a Bad Request Error. I know it has to be base-62, so [a-zA-Z0-9], but what other restrictions are there? I've noticed that it seems to expect the ID to be 22 characters long. Would it be valid to just check that the input is 22 in length? Is it actually true that all IDs are 22 characters long or might that vary / change.
