Until SpotCast is fixed, you might give the SpotifyPlus integration a try - search the Home Assistant Community Forum for more details.

This is disappointing, in that Spotify continues to limit functionality for its Premium content subscribers. Home Assistant users are not trying to steal company data or train AI models; we are simply trying to play our music and control our devices via home automation routines. Why can't the Spotify Web API do the same things that the Spotify Web / Mobile / Desktop applications do for Spotify Premium membership from a programmatic level?!

Hi folks,

I want to make you aware that these changes have broken the main functionality of spotcast, an app developed to let users like me use home automation to cast to devices we own that are spotify cast enabled. I have been a premium subscriber for years, I owe multiple devices I'd bought in part because they let me cast Spotify to them, and everything myself and others are doing is only utilizing this technology for its intended purpose as a Spotify cast device. Premuim is also required for me to use this service the way I do - spotify literally makes money off me because of this third party solution.

With these changes you have completely broken the functionality of a system I use daily. You have completely broken the system MANY people use daily. Please fix your API so that people can continue to use spotcast and similar solutions.
