Hello,

My name is Matteo and I’m part of the team developing Bubble, a music-themed, strategy-based game currently in development.

In Bubble, players take on the role of music managers: they scout, train and grow virtual artists, build their own label, and compete in challenges inspired by the real music industry. One of the features we are currently working on is a mini-game where users listen to 30-second audio previews and interact with them as part of a training mechanic — not as public playback or standalone entertainment, but as a controlled, embedded part of gameplay.

We are aware that, according to Spotify’s Developer Policy, using the Spotify API in games is generally not permitted. However, through research and reviewing multiple threads here in the community, we’ve found references to projects and games that have successfully obtained special licenses or exceptions for similar use cases.

We are therefore reaching out to:

Better understand the conditions under which Spotify grants exceptions or commercial licenses for Web API usage in interactive apps

Request guidance or contact with the appropriate internal team at Spotify to evaluate our case

Ensure that our integration is fully aligned with Spotify’s technical and legal guidelines
