topic [URGENT HELP] Error 429 Web API after recent changes. in Spotify for Developers

Hello,

I’ve been using the Spotify Web API in my web app primarily for searching albums. It was working fine initially, but after recent changes, it stopped working unless the account had a Premium subscription. After upgrading to Premium, the functionality resumed.

However, I’m now encountering a new issue: after a certain number of requests, the API starts returning 429 (Too Many Requests) errors. I’m unsure whether this is due to rate limits or quota restrictions.

From my research, I understand that switching from Development Mode to Extended Quota Mode can increase request limits. However, the developer dashboard analytics do not show 250,000 monthly active users (MAUs), which seems to be a requirement for eligibility.

Could you clarify:
• Is the 429 error strictly due to rate limiting, or could it be related to quota restrictions?
• What is the correct process for applying for Extended Quota Mode in this situation?
• Are there any alternative ways to handle or mitigate these limitations?

Thanks in advance for your help.
