Spotify API verify artist

We are trying to use the Spotify API in order to verify if an artist owns his profile. After verifying this we would like them to create their own profile on our application. Currently we are using artists.spotify.com to check who manages the artist so he can get access to our app, but the API shows us that the manager is just a normal Spotify user. Is there a way to check if this user is logged in and to check which artist he manages so we can get the artist ID? Is this possible?
