Remote control desktop app with Play Button

Hi everyone,

Previously it was possible to remote control the desktop app with the Play Button on a webpage, but as I've read here this is unfortunately removed.:

Right now there are only two options:

- With 'allow: encrypted media'; this plays the music in the browser (doesn't scrobble, stops whenever you close the tab etc)

- Without 'allow: encrypted media'; this only plays the 30 second snippets of the song and it plays it on top of the music you're playing in the desktop app.

I'm wondering if there's a workaround to still get the old behaviour?

Hey @james815, help's here!

Spotify has updated the Play button to make it more accessible. You can use the Web API, Player endpoint to remote control the device Spotify is playing on your website (the user would need to login and grant access to your application though).
