topic Device Playback Error in Spotify for Developers

Plan

Premium

Country

UK

Device

Redmi Notebook 9 Pro and Samsung S20

Operating System

Android

My Question or Issue

Hello - I have an issue where the playback device changes when trying to use Spotify in car via a Bluetooth connection and running Google maps navigation on the 2nd phone.

I do not like the way Spotify and Google Maps voice directions fade in/out for podcasts while driving (the first 2 seconds and the Google direction gets cut off). Therefore I use different phones. I setup Spotify on the first phone which is connected to my car Bluetooth and plays the podcast. I then setup the 2nd phone to navigate using Google maps, not connected to the car. However, every time the 2nd phone plays a voice direction, the Spotify playback changes to that phone which means the audio to the car speaker system is cut off and the podcast is only playing through the 2nd phone speaker.

How do I stop the 2nd phone stealing the Spotify playback?

Thanks in advance!
